Destiny 2 fashion is about to explode in a big way with the arrival of Season of the Splicer. Guardians can finally unleash their creative sides, as this season introduces the highly-anticipated armor transmog system, allowing players to convert owned gear into universal ornaments.

Of course, this doesn't come without another grind for materials, though Ada-1 is quite merciful in what she starts you off with. Still, there's a minimum of 13 years before every universal ornament is unlocked, so particularly dedicated fashionistas have a long way to go. Either way, here's how to get started.

Complete "Tying it All Together"

The first part of the questline is straightforward, though the second half has Guardians creating ornaments fairly quickly. First, Destiny 2 players will need to speak with Banshee in the Tower. Banshee sends players over to Ada-1's usual spot in the Annex except there'll be a few noticeable changes. Ada needs a piece for the Loom to function properly and has players go to Europa to retrieve it.

On returning, Ada gives players Synthweave, the material that allows players to unlock individual armor pieces for customization. Once here, Guardians get their first guidelines on creating and applying universal ornaments.

How To Create and Apply Ornaments (or Shaders) in Destiny 2

From here, all Guardians need to do is select the armor piece they want to modify and apply their chosen ornament. This can be done at the Loom or from the Appearance sub-screen by pressing the S key or down on the d-pad. In place of the Emblems is now Appearance Customization, specified so for shaders and ornaments.

Right-clicking on this brings Guardians to the Appearance Customization screen, revealing every armor piece and current ornament and shader applied. Shaders can still be applied individually from the main menu, though here, Guardians have the option of conveniently applying one shader to every armor piece all at once. This is done by using the golden paper symbol at the top-middle, but keeping an eye on that Glimmer is still a must. A full application still costs 2,500, or as before, 500 per armor piece.

Selecting an individual armor piece on the Appearance Customization screen also allows for shaders to be applied, but it also opens up how unlocking universal ornaments works. Essentially, Guardians will use exactly one Synthweave to unlock an armor ornament and, once unlocked, it can be applied just as easily as already owned ornaments. In total, players can hold 15 per class and are given 11 each, allowing for some early breathing room for creative combinations.

That said, the grind is still a very real aspect of armor synthesis, and that's reflected in Ada-1's new bounties. Instead of being forge-focused, they revolve around completing objectives to gain armor synthesis material, Synthcord, which is then exchanged for Synthweave. As a final note, be careful in deleting unfavorable bounties from Ada. They cost 150 Synthstrand and only refund 50 upon deletion, though players may find that they can kill two birds with one stone, sort of. That's to say, both Synthstrand and Ether can be gained by defeating enemies.
