Season of the Chosen has only three weeks left, and Destiny 2 players can earn an exclusive emblem and a large amount of Bright Dust if they can complete 75 of the 77 Season of the Chosen Seasonal Challenges. Players should already have a head start on some of the easier challenges, but can optimize their time by trying to work through as many objectives at the same time.
Guardian Games is also returning to Destiny 2 for its second year soon, and with Titans winning decisively last year, Warlocks and Hunters will need to work hard to dethrone them. Players should be able to complete a fair few of the Seasonal Challenges too while they grind the activities in Destiny 2 for Guardian Games.
In order to get the exclusive “Thrill of the Chase” emblem and Bright Dust reward, players need to complete the “Master of All” challenge, which tasks Destiny 2 players with completing 75 of the 77 Season of the Chosen Seasonal Challenges. Players can redeem the emblem through Bungie Rewards once they have completed the challenge. This is quite a tall order, especially with some of the challenges requiring specific activities that are not always available, such as Iron Banner.
In general, players should look at the challenges they have left and consider which ones can be completed together to save time. Some will require the use of different weapons or defeating a particular type of enemy which can be done alongside any Strike or Gambit challenges for example.
Core Activities:
First of all, a lot of the challenges revolve around Destiny 2’s core activities: Strikes, Crucible and Gambit. For the Strike challenges, players will need to run a mix of Playlist Strikes and Nightfall: The Ordeal Strikes on various difficulties. When players are running Nightfalls, they should be on Hero difficulty at least so that Champion enemies appear as there are a few challenges that involve defeating them.
Annoyingly, there are challenges that will be very hard to complete for players that may have been away from Destiny 2 for the last month or so. Week 8 has a challenge that requires players to complete the Nightfall version of the new Proving Ground Strike. If Proving Ground is not the Nightfall Strike for the week, the only way this challenge can be completed is by choosing it as a Grandmaster difficulty Nightfall Strike.
The Crucible challenges are not particularly hard but are certainly a bit of a grind. Players should ensure they play any of the special modes when they are available, such as Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris. Destiny 2 players also need to ensure they are checking out the weekly rotator playlist that features game modes like Mayhem and Showdown, as there are a few challenges that are specific to those modes. Players should also make sure they are mixing up their subclasses and loadouts between matches to work through as many challenges as possible.
Likewise with the Crucible challenges, Gambit has a few challenges that are all simple but will be time-consuming. So long as players are playing the objective in Gambit by gathering motes, invading, and killing Primeval Envoys, these challenges should not cause too many issues.
During these core activities, players should try to use Grenade Launchers as much as possible to unlock the Salvager’s Salvo pursuit weapon and its ornaments as quickly as possible. There is a challenge attached to each of the three ornaments so players should not miss those out.
Seasonal Activities:
Lots of the challenges broadly involve activities to do with Season of the Chosen. The seven-part "Challenger’s Proving" questline has associated challenges for players to complete called Contender’s Ascent. As part of that players will need to play a lot of Battlegrounds missions, which will give them ample opportunities to fight Cabal, Champions, and bosses for various challenges. Some weeks have extra objectives for these challenges that task players with getting kills with a certain weapon type. For example, players need to get 50 Sniper Rifle kills to complete Week 4’s Contender’s Ascent challenge.
Players also need to make sure they are spending their Cabal Gold earned from playing core activities on Hammer of Proving medallions and runes that allow them to smash Tribute Chests. Using a combination of the seven seasonal weapons during Battleground missions is also important as it ensures players will quickly unlock as many Prismatic Recaster Focusing Lenses as possible. The seasonal weapons are:
- Extraordinary Rendition SMG
- Code Duello Rocket Launcher
- Far Future Sniper Rifle
- Brass Attacks Sidearm
- Imperial Needle Bow
- Threaded Needle Linear Fusion Rifle
- Ticuu’s Divination Exotic Bow
Once players earn a few random Umbral Engram drops and have some Hammer Charges stored, they need to return to the H.E.L.M to focus their Umbral Engrams using the Prismatic Recaster. Several challenges involve doing this, including Week 9’s Convex Convergence challenge, which is completed by focusing an Umbral Engram into a Tier 3 Umbral Engram. While using the device, players can also check exactly which Focusing Lens objectives they still need to complete in Battlegrounds missions.
These seasonal and core activities form the bulk of the 77 Seasonal Challenges. Rather than focusing on the relevant challenges for one activity type first and then the other, Destiny 2 players will need to alternate to be as efficient as possible and ensure they are always working towards completing objectives.
In each Destiny 2 session, players should start with some core activities, using Grenade Launchers if necessary for Salvager's Salvo ornaments, to make sure that they have as much Cabal Gold as possible. Then players should follow up with some Battlegrounds missions, using appropriate weapons for Focusing Lens objectives, and spend their Cabal Gold by slotting items into their Hammers to break Tribute Chests. These Battlegrounds missions could also be done as part of Challenger’s Proving quest objectives if players still have not completed the full questline and its relevant challenges.
Once players have exhausted most or all their Cabal Gold, they should head to the H.E.L.M to upgrade their Hammer of Proving if they can. Then they should head to the Prismatic Recaster to focus any Umbral Engrams and decrypt them. Players should be able to get a lot of the challenges done by repeating this process a few times.
Patrol Activities:
Some of the Seasonal Challenges involve completing objectives while patrolling the various destinations in Destiny 2. In Week 1, the “Icebound” challenge requires players to complete bounties, patrol missions, Public Events, and Lost Sectors. There are a few challenges like this one and these would be good to tackle between core and seasonal activity runs. When going on patrol, players should make sure they always check in with the destination vendor to pick up any bounties, and then head off in search of Public Events and other activities.
A few Seasonal Challenges also involve Legendary Lost Sectors, which can be quite tricky. Players should make sure they have loadouts suited for tackling the Champions found inside, as they will put up the strongest fight and can ruin Legendary Lost Sector runs. Players should note that none of the Lost Sector-related challenges need to be completed in Master Lost Sectors, so players should opt for the easier difficulty to speed things along.
Presage:
Lastly, the exotic mission for the Dead Man’s Tale Exotic Scout Rifle, Presage, has a few Seasonal Challenges attached to it. “Captain’s Log” and “Graven Scrawl” focus on exploring the Glykon ship and finding secrets. Another challenge also tasks players with completing the mission up to three times, so players should definitely run this mission fully a few times while searching for secrets.
