The wait is almost over. Only eight days remain until Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is unleashed upon the Destiny community. With just over a week left to go, fans are no doubt getting ready for Shadowkeep's new content, and thanks to a contest that starts today, one lucky fan will be able to do it in style.
The contest in question actually isn’t being run by Bungie, but by a fan-run Destiny podcast called Happy Hour from the Tower. It wants to give one random fan a special bundle to celebrate the imminent launch of Shadowkeep. To that end, the podcast has teamed up with actress Joy Osmanski, who fans will know as the voice of Failsafe, the somewhat psychotic AI that has been popping up throughout Destiny 2’s storylines.
The special bundle in question will consist of a Destiny 2-themed collector’s edition PlayStation 4, which Osmaski will specialize even further with both her autograph and the winner’s favorite Failsafe quote. In addition, the winner will receive a copy of Destiny 2’s base game, the Expansion Pass that unlocks access to the game’s first two expansions (so not to be confused with Destiny 2’s Annual Pass), and a whole slew of exclusive physical and digital items.
Anyone interested should know that they’ll have to put down some cash to take part in what Happy Hour from the Tower is calling “Operation: Failsafe,” but rest assured that money is going to a good cause. To enter the contest, one must first make a donation to Hope for the Warriors, a non-profit organization that offers care services to members of the military and their families. Any amount will suffice, so fans can decide how much to donate for themselves.
Once they’ve done that, all participants have to do next is send the donation confirmation number to the podcast's email. Then, on October 1, the day Shadowkeep launches, the winner of the contest will be announced.
How long it’ll be before the winner receives their prize, though, has yet to be specified, so fans planning on jumping into Destiny 2 next week may want to consider other options. Still, most fans would probably agree that a free PS4 and free Destiny 2 is a tempting offer even if it means waiting a little bit longer.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep will be out on October 1 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A Google Stadia version of Destiny 2 is also in development.
