With the release of the first official Destiny 2 trailer, the marketing train can officially begin for Bungie and Activision’s sci-fi shooter sequel. Among other things, that means pre-orders are now open for fans, with a handful of different options to choose from and plenty of unique trinkets, including a Cayde-6 figure, to secure.

Although Rise of Iron skipped out on the Collector’s Edition fun, Destiny 2 will get things back on track with a $250 package that includes tons of goodies. Of course, the Destiny 2 Collector’s Edition comes with a steelbook copy of the game and its expansion pass, but it also includes some exclusive in-game items (a legendary sword, a special emote, and a unique emblem), a customizable bag themed after the Cabal, and a Frontier kit that includes a solar USB charger, a paracord, and a solar blanket.

For those who want to get in on the Destiny 2 excitement but don’t want to invest as much money, there will also be a much more affordable Limited Edition available for $99 as well. It includes the steelbook case, the Expansion Pass, the aforementioned in-game rewards, and a Cabal-themed “Collector’s Box” that features:

  • Booklet with secrets into the Cabal Empire
  • Cabal Schematic
  • Collectible Postcard Images
  • Cabal Military Pawns

Keeping everything within the Cabal theme makes sense for Destiny 2, as it appears the militaristic race will play a big role in the game’s story. What we know is that a Cabal leader named Ghaul has attacked with his Red Legion and devastated the Last City on Earth.

That setup serves as a perfect “reset” point for Bungie, who have already confirmed that most of player's gear will not carry over to Destiny 2. In essence, the Cabal will wipe out Destiny 1’s content and kick off the story in Destiny 2. Some items will carry over, but without a Vault there won’t be much.

Bungie may have dialed things back for the release of Rise of Iron, but the studio has gone all out for Destiny 2, likely in the hopes of expanding the title’s reach. To that point, today’s reveal trailer also confirmed a Destiny 2 release for the PC, which should bring even more gamers into the fold.

Destiny 2 releases September 8, 2017 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
