At TwitchCon, Destiny 2's developer Bungie held a panel that was all about the rituals that its hoping to use to pull players back into Destiny 2 time and again over the course of the next year. One of those rituals was brand new and had never been mentioned before. Dubbed Clarion Calls, these events will task players with a different objective every time they show up, granting players a reward for completing them.

The first Clarion Call event will ask players to play activities alongside a clanmate. By doing so, those players will unlock double XP for themselves. Double XP might not seem that exciting considering most players have already hit the level cap, but the boost to XP will also help players earn Bright Engrams and the items that lie within them.

It's unclear when the first Clarion Call will go live, but it is expected to occur near the end of Destiny 2's first season, which is currently active. The Second Season is set to go live in December, so November seems like a good candidate.

With a new season will come refreshed Bright Engrams and new items to earn in them. But that also means some of the items currently available for Season 1 will be retired. Presumably, Clarion Call events will then be a way to increase the rate players earn Bright Engrams and hopefully get the rewards that they want before they disappear.

Bungie did say that Clarion Call events will not always require clan collaboration; that is just the requirement for the very first Clarion Call. It will be up to Bungie to bring new ways to engage players in these events. The cadence at which Clarion Calls will appear in game was not discussed, but Bungie did promise that they will become an ongoing event that will appear from time to time.

In addition to Clarion Call events, Bungie revealed that The Dawning live event will return with Season 2 in December bringing new armor to collect. But before all that happens, Bungie is focused on launching the PC version of the game next week and letting players on PC catch up to their console counterparts before adding a new season or events.

Destiny 2 is available now for PS4 and Xbox One, and release on October 24, 2017 for PC.
