The first Clarion Call event, a new event being added to Destiny 2 that grants players double XP, will make its debut on November 17, 2017. But players won't get that double XP automatically—they will be required to have at least one other clan member in their fireteam to reap the benefits of the Clarion Call.

Destiny 2's developer, Bungie, first announced Clarion Call events during its TwitchCon panel last month, where the Seasons of Destiny 2 were discussed. Clarion Call events are tied to Destiny 2's seasons and designed to give players increased XP gains by meeting specific conditions.

This first event calls for players to go into any activity while in a fireteam with at least one other clan member, but that won't always be a requirement. Bungie promised that Clarion Calls will change, so anyone dedicated to playing solo will be able to reap the benefits next time. That being said, there are numerous advantages to joining a clan, from an opportunity to earn raid gear to special bonuses to XP and drops, so it's worthwhile to seek one out.

Some might be asking why Bungie is buffing XP when most players are already at the Destiny 2 level cap. The key to the event is Bright Engrams, which Bungie wants players to earn at a faster rate than normal. Since the inventory of Bright Engrams is set to be completely refreshed with the release of a new season many of the items available now will soon be gone.

At this point in this Season 1 of Destiny 2, that means items like the Spicy Ramen emote, the exclusive Bright Engram armor sets, Ghost shells, Sparrows, and ships will be retired. Completely new items will take their place with the launch of Curse of Osiris and Season 2 on December 5.

This upcoming Clarion Call event and increased XP gains will begin on November 17 at 10 a.m. PST, lasting through the weekend until 10 a.m. PST on November 20.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
