After largely underwhelming the player base when it launched earlier this year, Grandmaster Nightfalls have slowly begun to catch on with the larger Destiny 2 community. Providing one of the biggest challenges in the game, Bungie has made these missions a bit more lucrative thanks to a recent update which provided more rewards for those who were able to make it all the way through. This weeks mission adds an extra layer of difficulty due to the selected strike, though clever players have discovered a way to cheese the final boss to even the odds a bit.

Originally a PlayStation 4 exclusive strike, the Lake of Shadows is the selected Nightfall: The Ordeal mission this week in Destiny 2. While it's one of the shorter strikes in the game, the boss fight against Grask, the Consumed can get tricky on higher difficulties. When the boss spawns in to the already small room, and if players can't take him down quickly, the room slowly fills with damaging liquid and Taken enemies continue to spawn in.

Thankfully, popular Destiny YouTuber Esoterickk has managed to find a way to cheese the final boss fight. One wrinkle to this cheese is that it seems to require the highly prized Anarchy grenade launcher. Thankfully, with Bungie removing the weekly restrictions on raids, players can continue to farm the Scourge of the Past boss for a chance to having one drop.

In his Lake of Shadows strategy, Esoterickk clears the Taken in the room completely before slowly weakening the Blight in the center of the room. Right before it disappears, Esoterickk uses the Anarchy to continually damage the Blight, while he uses debris to climb up the back wall using some wires. At this point, the boss spawns in, but Esoterickk is up on a ledge with plenty of cover. With the threat of the Taken adds or damaging arc pools, fighting the boss is much easier as he can be picked off in relative safety. While the player can still be hit from enemy fire, the biggest issue with this strategy is running out of ammo.

While it's unlikely that Bungie will likely fix this small ledge, the studio does have its work cut out for them in other areas of the game. One of the newer Hunter exotics, Raiju's Harness is again causing headaches for the community, something that frustrated fans initially when the item was first introduced. This latest issue fans have noticed is that the exotic gear continues to consume extra Super energy, which goes against the main exotic perk of the item.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
