While Destiny challenges are nothing new, they do run the gamut. Some show off how quick a fireteam can kill a boss, others highlight impressive ways to achieve that goal, and a few are just down right silly. This latest challenge run from Clan Redeem and some friends is one of those.

While waiting for the Prestige Raid lairs to launch, Clan Redeem has spent a good chunk of time creating different raid challenges in Destiny 2. They’ve used various weapons to tackle the different raid bosses, from shotguns to Wardcliff Coil. This week, the clan happened upon a unique hypothesis: could Telesto explosions kill Calus?

As the video below shows, killing Calus via Telesto explosions requires a lot of coordination – and a strong PC as it turns out – but it can be done.

The basics of the challenge are simple to explain but obviously difficult to execute. What the team did was fire Telesto at a teammate, which sticks shards to their body. That person then jumps up to Calus and lets the shards explode and deal damage to the Leviathan raid boss. The team gets a little extra damage thanks to the Empowering Rift buff, but still this is something that one would think is impossible and yet it works. It also helps that the Leviathan raid is rated for power level 300, 85 points below the current cap, and so the fireteam is doing max damage to Calus.

One funny thing to note is that the player getting “stuck” with the Telesto shards needed to make sure their PC didn’t overheat or the game didn’t crash because of the explosion effects of the shards. At first the other members of the fireteam would turn away from Calus so as to not see the effects on screen, but eventually they figured out it wasn’t that much of an issue.

No doubt some people are going to look at a challenge like this and point to the lack of content in Destiny 2, but it’s challenges like these that give the game a fun new dynamic. Thinking up a challenge that seems impossible and then making it happen has got to be a gratifying experience, even if there is no reward for actually achieving such a feat. At the very least, this should be a contender for Bungie’s Movie of the Week contest.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
