Bungie is fast approaching the 30th anniversary of its foundation, which dates back to June 19, 2021, and some big stuff is likely to come in the near future. Many players have been speculating about what this could entail for Destiny 2, and of course, there are several possibilities based on what Bungie has been doing both with the Season of the Splicer, and in the past. One of the things that are most likely to happen is Bungie adding either Exotic quests for specific items, new Exotic guns or class armor, and possibly returning Exotics from Destiny.

Given how game-changing some Exotics can be in Destiny 2, having many of them up for the taking can be a great way to celebrate an important anniversary, while also celebrating the game's community. As a matter of fact, one of the things that could happen is that Bungie could introduce another Presage-like secret Exotic quest that will award players with either a brand-new Exotic with no specific ties to the company or maybe something related to either Halo or Marathon. This is not something players should count on though, and the reason for that is the fact that Bungie left Microsoft with the rights for Halo in 2007 to become an independent company.

Bungie's Anniversary, Bungie Day, Halo Exotics, And Emblems

Still, a little something like the classic M6D Magnum from Halo: Combat Evolved, or even the Energy Sword, could be turned into Exotics for Destiny 2. Maybe even returning items from the Marathon trilogy could appear in Destiny 2. Bungie is also probably going to add some free in-game stuff and new items both to the Bungie store and Eververse, like a celebratory bundle or even something related to Summer. Ghost shells, sparrows, ships, Exotic ornaments, shaders, and emblems are all plausible options in this scenario.

Actually, a new emblem called "10950 Days" was datamined quite some time ago, and dividing the number by 365 the result is 30. This means the emblem will probably be either given for free in Destiny 2 or tied to a specific activity to complete. Furthermore,  another datamined emblem is "Bungie Day 2021," which occurs on July 7, around three weeks after the anniversary. This could indicate another event, or that maybe the anniversary content is coming after the actual celebration.

Destiny 2 Exotic Quests, Returning Exotics, And Solstice Of Heroes

Presage was introduced very early into the Season of the Chosen, as early as the second week, and it was praised as one of Destiny 2's best Exotic quests or quests in general. Upon completing it, Presage awarded players with the Exotic scout rifle by the name of Dead Man's Tale, which has seen its share of use in Destiny 2's meta ever since its introduction. The community has been very vocal about how more missions like Presage would be an awesome addition to Destiny 2, and what better time to do so than the 30th anniversary of the company's foundation?

Another option would be to introduce the anniversary stuff alongside the Solstice of Heroes recurring event, which this year will come in the midst of the Season of the Splicer on July 6, exactly one day before Bungie Day. This seems like the most plausible outcome for the time being, and starting July 6 for four weeks in a row the Eververse calendar for this Season shows several classified items being sold, which again, could turn out to be consumable or cosmetic items exclusive to the event or the anniversary.

Overall, what makes the most sense is some generic Exotic quests, maybe Exotic Ciphers and Ascendant Shards, Silver bundles discounted at Eververse, and maybe other guns returning from Destiny, like Pocket Infinity or Touch of Malice. Ultimately, fans shouldn't expect anything too fancy for this event, but Bungie has many possibilities to tap into.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
