Destiny 2 is soon entering its Year 5 with The Witch Queen releasing in February of next year, but there is a rather big stop on the way there in the form of the 30th Anniversary Pack dropping in just a week. While the DLC's content is not as huge as that of the upcoming yearly expansion, it does pack a punch with Gjallarhorn returning, as well as a new Dungeon and 6-player activity coming to the game. Furthermore, the 30th Anniversary Pack will be accompanied by a major sandbox patch that is going to shake the very foundations of Destiny 2 in multiple ways.

For starters, there will be plenty of changes to weapon archetypes and Exotics in Destiny 2 next week, with popular weapons of the past returning to their former glory, such as Whisper of the Worm. A big focus for Bungie with the sandbox changes is to make character customization and builds more important in Destiny 2, moving forward, and to achieve this, the developer had to change how the game works at its very core. Thus, abilities and Supers will be on differentiated cooldowns and Tiers, which will make each of them feel different and more in line with their power.

A Reddit user made a post about how these changes are likely to create a lot of problems within the community due to the way builds will need to be optimized in the future. Because abilities and Supers will be on separate cooldowns, many players will have to obtain and then use a lot of different gear pieces to go with their build selection, but these are going to become obsolete when switching for any other build. Destiny 2 is a rather complicated game on its own, with a plethora of gameplay mechanics and moving parts that don't make it easy on players, which is part of the problem.

In fact, several players will have no clue about how to optimize their builds whenever they make tiny changes to them - such as using a different grenade. Others will likely struggle even more when changing their entire subclass to something else, with other melee abilities, other grenades, and Supers that are part of a whole other Tier.

These issues are there because Destiny 2 is not very friendly towards beginners, and they could be annoying to deal with for veterans as well. The main problem is that these changes, while they might be fundamentally good for the game, will also make it even more convoluted than it already is.

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
