Destiny 2's new build crafting seems to have hit a snag, as players have discovered that a particular category of armor mods aren't working as intended if their characters die in combat. The revamped mod and armor charge system is designed to provide the framework of player builds and has been promoted as one of the flagship features of Destiny 2: Lightfall. An unwanted influx of bugs and glitches is commonplace during major content releases in any game, and Destiny 2 is experiencing its fair share after the release of its latest expansion.

When Destiny 2 first came out in August 2017, the concept of builds or archetypes didn't exist. For the longest time, Destiny 2 players had to rely on equipping armors with the highest possible stat rolls, a few weapon-enhancing mods, and donning one Exotic armor that would change a specific subclass or ability and call it a day. As the game has evolved throughout the years, virtually all aspects of Destiny 2 have been revamped. From Subclass 2.0 to extensive armor modding system that reacts to player choice and actions, Destiny 2 is experiencing a golden age of build diversity which looks to continue in future expansions.

Before Lightfall, players had to contend with various mechanics and jump through proverbial hoops to activate a weapon damage boost or lengthen their abilities. Bungie removed the needless complexity of juggling multiple mechanics for one effect and designed the new Armor Mod system. In the new system, players will acquire armor charges by killing enemies and collecting orbs of power and then spend these charges for desired effects, determined by the mods they have equipped on their armor. While most of the new mods have been working fine, some Destiny 2 players have stumbled upon a bug that affects a select few. In a Reddit post, user SlurpingDiarrheacup detailed how all types of Ammo Scavenger, Ammo Reserve, and Ammo Finder mods stop working after a player character dies.

Other players on the subreddit have provided feedback on the issue, with some citing it as potentially game-breaking. Some players have noticed that other weapon utility-related Armor Mods aren't working, namely the Reload Speed and Holster Speed categories of mods. While the bug only perks up after a player dies once, considering the difficulty of the Legendary campaign and endgame content, this issue can become quite annoying in the long run. Some creative players have resorted to using Destiny 2's new in-game loadout system to create a workaround and swap builds to fix the mods instantly.

Bungie has yet to comment on the state of these bugged mods as the studio is probably busy with fixing a couple of bugged Destiny 2 exotics and much more. For the time being, players should utilize the tools that are working, namely the loadout system to keep their mods active.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
