With only a week left until the launch of the Black Armory DLC, Bungie has finally sought fit to lift off the veil of secrecy surrounding its forthcoming Destiny 2 DLC. While most of the info came from Bungie’s ViDOC and release calendar, a few other details have made their way online via a variety of sources.

Bungie's press release, for example, has offered a closer look at three new exotic weapons coming to Destiny 2 with Black Armory. According to Bungie, there will be 5 total exotic weapons added when the DLC launches, but the developer was only willing to reveal these three. That being said, Bungie did tease that one of the new exotics will be a returning favorite – so let speculation of The Last Word run rampant once again.

First up, is an exotic energy bow called Le Monarque that Bungie compares to Destiny 1’s Thorn hand cannon. Essentially, the bow is capable of dealing damage over time, both directly to the target on a perfect draw and to nearby enemies on a perfect draw combined with a precision hit.

Given the slower-firing nature of bows it’s hard to imagine Le Monarque will be as troublesome for PvP as Thorn was in Destiny, but the bow sounds perfect for PvE add clear.

izanagis burden exotic sniper

Izanagi’s Burden is the sniper rifle most have seen in the key art for Destiny 2: Black Armory. At any point, the player can combine the weapon’s magazine into a single bullet that has increased range and damage. Bungie wanted to point out two important things with the exotic sniper rifle that should hopefully make it worth the chase. Izanagi’s Burden will be able to compete with the likes of Whisper of the Worm and Sleeper Simulant for single shot damage, and more importantly it can kill with a body shot.

anarchy exotic grenade launcher

Finally, there is the Anarchy exotic grenade launcher that shares a similar design to Fallen weapons like the Queensbreaker’s Bow and the Lord of Wolves. Any projectile fired by the weapon will stick to surfaces and send arc bolts between them. Presumably, Guardians can use the weapon as a way to clear rushing enemies or to keep them protected during a boss DPS phase.

As was mentioned, these are only three of the new exotic weapons coming with Black Armory next week, but it’s important to note that all 5 might not release right at launch. Bungie seems to enjoy its exotic quests in Destiny 2 and at least one is planned for Season 5 according to the event calendar. But if we had to guess, that quest is likely tied to a familiar hand cannon with a Western flair.
