Destiny 2: Beyond Light is just two weeks away. Bungie has been building anticipation with teasers spaced out over months which culminated in a 15 min ViDoc today. The video dives further into how the game is changing this November as well as revealing brand new story and gameplay information about the upcoming season of content.

During the summer, Destiny 2: Beyond Light was delayed by 6 weeks which put it into the launch window of many other flagship titles. While competition will be fierce, the ViDoc shows that Bungie still has more tricks up its sleeve.

The presentation starts out with an overview of the Darkness, a story that was heavily built up in Season of Arrivals and one that'll be directly continued in the upcoming expansion. The story implications are massive with one scene pointing towards a temporary truce between the Cabal and humans as they face an existential threat together. As the Darkness narrative creeps towards its climax, players may be able to relive the Collapse, a devastating event from the game's lore.

This leads directly into the powers of Stasis, a fresh new element coming with Beyond Light. Stasis will be a separate damage type and will include its customizable subclasses. This will be done through new types of items called Aspects and Fragments which add or subtract stats from a player's character build alongside adding new functionality to their abilities or modifying existing ones. For instance, Warlocks can opt into a freezing Rift which turns nearby enemies to solid ice upon casting. Similarly, Bungie wants to introduce exotic armor that will radically change playstyles and be the cornerstone of player builds.

As fans search for new powers on Europa, they will also come across Golden Age Clovis Bray facilities left behind by a colony now crumbled. Europa has been designed to harbor as many secrets and wonders as possible. This never before seen destination also features a brand new lighting system. Its primary feature is dynamic snowstorms which come and go as players explore the icy tundra. These extreme weather conditions will radically change the way environments and encounters play out.

Alongside Europa, the Cosmodrome is also coming back and has been retooled to fit Destiny 2 standards. For starters, the director is changed from its Destiny 1 version to provide more info and flexibility and will feature 2 landing zones, up from 1. The new Cosmodrome will offer the original story beats from D1 but will fit them together in a unique way to provide players, especially newcomers, with a comprehensive experience. The recently teased character, Shaw Han, will be the destination vendor and will provide the standard fare of bounties.

Last, but certainly not least, the new season, Season of the Hunt, will revolve around Xivu Arath, a sister to Savathun the Witch Queen. This Hive God will capitalize on the coming of Darkness and try to build a corrupt army inside the solar system. As part of the seasonal activity, players will fend off Hive infections that crop on different destinations. Osiris will help out with this campaign as well as Uldren Sov. The once dead prince is fully revealed to be back in action and Bungie will finally continue his much anticipated story in the coming months.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light releases November 10, 2020 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
