Adept weapons will finally be making their return to Destiny 2: Beyond Light. These Adept weapons work a bit differently in Destiny 2 compared to the original weapons.

The Bungie team knows how to keep things interesting for Destiny 2 players. Bringing back Adept weapons is a good callback from the originally Destiny game, but they are functionally different in the sequel. Adept weapons were powerful back in the day because they dealt elemental damage on top of being a legendary weapon, but in Destiny 2, increased stats are the name of the game.

The Adept weapons in Destiny 2 work a bit differently from the original Destiny. To obtain Adept weapons, players must first complete a Flawless Trials Passage, like the Trials of Osiris, and make it to the Lighthouse. Once players make it there, opening up a flawless chest will allow a player will receive an Adept weapon.

Getting multiple Adept weapons will end up being a slow grind for players. The Adept weapons will only be available on a bi-weekly basis, meaning each run will not yield a new weapon for players. But that doesn't mean that it's not worth taking multiple runs to get to the Lighthouse, because Adept weapon mods will also appear, and players can also receive Adept shaders.

The mods that players will receive for making it to the Lighthouse are mods for already unlocked Adept weapons. This prevents players from getting mods of Destiny 2 weapons that they do not have. It should be noted that these Adept weapon mods only work for Adept weapons, meaning that players can easily get multiple mods for their newest Adept weapon.

Adept weapon mods are functionally very similar to Masterwork weapon stats. Players could get an Adept mod that reads “Adept range (+10 range)” which immediately tells how the weapon will operate. Existing mods will also become improved when using them on an Adept Weapon, but they will come with a debuff in Destiny 2. An example of this is getting the Adept mag mod which has +40 magazine but a -20 in handling. The debuff added to existing mods for Adept weapons will help keep the weapon balance in Destiny 2.

With each new Destiny 2 expansion, the game changes dramatically with new weapons and perks to unlock. Although Adept weapons do not seem to have elemental damage anymore like the original game, players will enjoy having boosted stats for these powerful weapons. If a player wants to add an Adept weapon to their collection of Destiny 2, they will have to make their way through a Flawless Trials Passage and make it to the Lighthouse.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light releases November 10, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 version will be available on November 12.
