Based on its reveal earlier today, Bungie is planning on evolving Destiny 2 into more of a platform rather than releasing numbered sequels like Destiny 3 every few years. That plan begins in full this September with the first expansion known as Beyond Light. Players will be heading to the frozen moon Europa where the Darkness, Fallen, and plenty of secrets await.

Many players may have been surprised to not see a new class of enemies, indicated as the Veil in the numerous leaks over the past few months. While it's possible the Darkness specific enemies are still on the way, the Beyond Light expansion sees players go up against a new Fallen Baroness called Eramis. She's not a new villain, even if this is her first true appearance. Eramis is a figure who has been mentioned quite a bit, intertwined with major Fallen characters like Mithrax, Variks, and even Skolas.

Here's everything fans need to know about Eramis the Shipstealer before she makes her grand entrance in Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

Origins

Originally mentioned in a couple of throwaway lines by Variks after the House of Wolves update in Destiny, Eramis has progressively grown in both stature and importance while never actually having been shown in game. A Fallen Baroness in the House of Devils, she followed in the footsteps of some major enemies like Solkis, Riksis, and Aksis. Following all three being defeated, two of which the player helped take down, the last remaining member of the nobility was Eramis.

Nicknamed The Shipstealer, Eramis was known for stealing enemy ships for her house, while also being a fearsome commander of a Fallen skiff or ketch.

Captured

While the rest of the House of Devils went on to become a major enemy to the player and the Vanguard, Eramis was curiously absent. According to lore inside of the game, the reason is that Eramis was captured and put into the Prison of Elders prior to Skolas becoming Kell of Kells and going on a rampage. During the events of the Forsaken campaign, Eramis escaped thanks to Prince Uldren and the Scorn Barons arrival, and with her newfound freedom, she has sought to reform the House of Devils by rallying and reunifying the splintered Fallen houses.

Mithrax and Siva

While Eramis has yet to be seen inside of Destiny 2, she rallied her loyalists seven months after her escape from the Prison of Elders. Her goal was to breach a Cryptarch Vault inside of the old Tower location from the first Destiny. Their goal was to steal SIVA Tech in an attempt to utilize it against the Vanguard for revenge for what was done to the Fallen houses in the House of Wolves expansion in the original Destiny.

Mithrax, a former member of the House of Dusk and current founder of the House of Light, allied with the Vanguard after being spared by them during the Chances and Choices quest line. Through the Guardian's mercy, Mithrax assists in the Fallen Transponder quest line leading to the Zero Hour secret quest. The end boss here isn't Eramis, instead Siriks, a high ranking and loyal member of her House of Devils.

There is also some speculation that her fascination with SIVA could be an attempt to recreate the Devil Splicers, Fallen who had integrated with the entity SIVA last seen inside of the Plaguelands during the Rise of Iron expansion.

Beyond Light Villain

As time passed, Eramis has seemingly succeeded in her quest, unifying a new Fallen faction under the House of Devils banner. Instead of hanging back on Earth, she's taken them to the frozen tundra of Europa, a moon off of Jupiter. While the Darkness looms above the surface, the unified Fallen forces have gone underground and seemingly come across the once dormant Deep Stone Crypt facility.

The trailer also makes it clear that Eramis now wields the power of Darkness, making her even more fearsome. She now goes by the title Fallen Kell of Darkness, and has seemingly brought her new faction to Europa to seek out these Pyramid Ships to further enhance her power. It'll be up to players to put a stop to her schemes once and for all.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
