Destiny 2 may have tons of cool weapons and armor to grind for, but some of the most sought-after items in the game are the sparrows—hovering vehicles that guardians can use to get around quickly. While sparrows serve a simple function, some of them have really cool designs that are sure to wow anyone players pass by.

The cooler sparrows can be rarer than some of Destiny 2's exotic weapons, and some are even locked behind the completion of various Triumphs, challenges, and endgame activities. Naturally, many are also exclusively available on the Eververse store, meaning players will need to spend Silver to get them. This list of Destiny 2's best sparrows is 100% biased but will take into consideration the uniqueness of the design—as well as speed, for one sparrow in particular.

Updated on June 16, 2023, by Anastasia Maillot: With each season of Destiny 2, new cosmetic items are added to the game. As many players often sigh, fashion truly is the endgame, and sparrows are part of that cosmetic grind. Sparrows can be acquired, as mentioned above, through challenges or activities, buying from the Eververse store for Silver or occasionally for Bright Dust, and from Bright Engrams if players are really lucky. Each season's seasonal pass will also feature a brand-new sparrow that fits the general theme. With the game now in the year of Lightfall and approaching the end of the Light and Dark saga, it's a great time to look back and compile some of the best sparrows in Destiny 2.

10 The Mirthmobile

Destiny 2 The Mirthmobile

Those who have always wanted to see what their guardian would look like crouched up in a minuscule little bumper car sparrow will fall in love with this Dawning-themed Mirthmobile sparrow. It has that odd, wholesome, and silly Mario Kart vibe that's sure to turn heads whenever players equip it.

What sets it apart is definitely the way the guardian character model sits on The Mirthmobile. Few other sparrows have that effect, which is why it's almost one of a kind, save for one other smaller sparrow found in the game. The Mirthmobile has that seasonal look as well, resembling a small Christmas sled. Take it to Europa for a spin.

9 Majestic Whinny

Destiny 2 Majestic Whinny Sparrow

Anything that's even remotely inspired by Xur is usually an excellent cosmetic item, as proven by the "rock ship" that fits the vibe of this sparrow, the Majestic Whinny. Themed around Starhorse, Xur's most trusted friend, who appears in Xur's Treasure Hoard on Eternity and helps him host the Dares of Eternity activity, this sparrow is just oozing with paracausal wackiness.

Better yet, the booster effect comes out as multicolored glitter dust, which is perfect for guardians who want to stand out from the crowd. The reigns of the horse are also some of the more unique features of the Majestic Whinny, as most sparrows have more established handles the character model grasps.

8 Winning Streak

Destiny 2 Winning Streak Sparrow

If the previous two were a bit too silly, then not to worry, because Destiny 2 has plenty of edgy and serious-looking sparrow designs that scream "I mean business". The Winning Streak sparrow is one of those, most notable for its sleek, futuristic black design with a light blue and white holographic front.

When boosting, the effects are also quite pleasing and fit the overall holo-theme of this Tron-esque sparrow. For players who like to live out their power fantasies of being THE guardian, this is a good sparrow to invest in.

7 Gjallarswift

Destiny 2 Gjallarswift Sparrow

What could be more iconic to the Destiny franchise than Gjallarhorn? Even well over a year after its return with the 30th Anniversary DLC, Gjallarhorn continues to be a really powerful, staple, heavy rocket launcher, and indispensable to a player's arsenal.

Now, it's possible to declare that love fans have for Gjallarhorn with a matching sparrow: the Gjallarswift. It's a very straightforward sparrow, simple yet quite decorative to showcase that classic look of the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher. For veteran players, it's a nice blast from the past.

6 Cordyception

Destiny 2 Cordyception Sparrow

Back to the weird and bizarre, because that's sort of where the Destiny franchise is evolving with Season of the Deep, here's the Cordyception sparrow. Some might recognize the odd plants growing on this sparrow, which have made a partial return at least in mention in season 21.

The egregore-infected sparrow is a nice tip of the hat to some of the more interesting egregore-centric content and lore in Destiny 2: the Presage Exotic mission, Season of the Haunted, and now ultimately the Season of the Deep. It's rare to see vegetation on sparrows and ships, but when they are part of the design, they definitely stand out.

5 Halted Oblivion

Destiny 2 Halted Oblivion Sparrow

For wielders of space magic in particular, the Halted Oblivion feels like a natural sparrow choice. It's heavily themed around Halloween (and Festival of the Lost) and the idea of witches traveling on brooms with their black cat—and now guardians can do that very same thing.

The model of this sparrow is just so different from anything else in the game, that it's hard not to include it in a ranking of the best Destiny 2 sparrows. Unique and eye-catching while being bizarrely aesthetically pleasing, cat lovers are likely the first to fall in love with this one.

4 Recalcitrant Host

Destiny 2 Recalcitrant Host Sparrow

Season of the Deep brought in the new Ghosts of the Deep dungeon, and completing it in Master difficulty rewards players with an extremely cool, Hive-themed sparrow. It's spooky, it's a bit gothic with its candles and ectoplasmic glow, and that's why it's unlike anything else on this list.

The colorful, oozing, misty effect is the cherry on top. And although it's a bit of a grind to get it, it's well worth the effort of suffering through the hard more of Ghosts of the Deep to be able to ride around in style.

3 Gouging Light

Destiny 2 Gouging Light Sparrow

Speaking of hard-to-earn sparrows, the Gouging Light is another one that's found locked behind endgame content completions. Players who successfully finish the Vow of the Disciple raid on Master difficulty will be rewarded with this sparrow that, on the surface, is pretty nondescript.

But players shouldn't let the humble, somewhat edgy appearance fool them. Boosting with the Gouging Light is the main reason why it ranks as high as it does, as it spits out that extremely cool resonant darkness effect that's found continuously in the raid itself and is often associated with the Witness.

2 Harbinger's Echo

Destiny 2 Harbinger's Echo

Harbinger's Echo is another sparrow that players just know is an Exotic sparrow simply by looking it at. Many sparrows have one or two highlights that make them unique, but Harbinger's Echo has the advantage of being entirely covered in its awesome Taken effect—a favorite of many longtime Destiny fans.

It also serves as a trophy, because the only way to get this sparrow is to complete a task that is only possible with the Exotic Wish Ender bow, which itself requires a complicated series of events to acquire. Only the most dedicated Destiny 2 players have Harbinger's Echo, and the sparrow's design just screams accomplished Destiny 2 veteran. Many Guardians fear the Taken, but a select few have risen above the rest and ride a Taken sparrow.

1 Always On Time

Destiny 2 Always On Time Sparrow

Always On Time, a sparrow that inspires both frustration and joy. Objectively, it's the best sparrow in the game, as it has the fastest speed when it accelerates and also has the advantage of making it harder for enemies to hit players while riding this sparrow. In other words, it's simply better stat-wise, compared to all the rest, despite having an extremely boring appearance.

Some might enjoy its simplicity, but most will fall in love with its superior speed. And for that alone, it will remain the best sparrow in Destiny 2, at least until Bungie decides to bring all sparrows in line with one another.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
