While Destiny 2 may have tons of cool weapons and armor to hunt for, a player's ship permeates every part of the experience. It doesn't have any tangible gameplay benefits, but it shows up in the most important parts of Destiny 2: in orbit and during loading screens.

Any seasoned Destiny 2 player will know that returning to orbit or waiting for an activity to load comprise a good chunk of Destiny 2's screentime, so players might as well look at a cool ship while waiting. These are some of the coolest ships in Destiny 2 as well as some players wouldn't want to show off when waiting for the raid team in orbit.

Updated on October 14, 2022, by Anastasia Maillot: Given the number of new cosmetics that are constantly being pumped into Destiny 2, it was high time this selection of some of the most stunning ships in the game received an update. In the last year, Destiny 2 has gone through numerous changes: the release of The Witch Queen expansion and its Legendary campaign, the introduction of weapon crafting, and the upgrade of light subclasses to their 3.0 versions has kept the game feeling fresh despite a lagging seasonal model. Along with all these changes, players have been graced with a ton of new cool loot, including fancy ships that they can wow their fireteam members with while waiting in orbit. Here are Destiny 2's best ships, as of season 18, as well as where they can be acquired.

10 Stardevil Predator

Destiny 2 Stardevil Predator
  • Can sometimes be bought from the Eververse store.

Players can make a lot of mistakes when they are still figuring out the game. They can try to use sniper rifles when enemies are dashing all over. They can try to use shotguns when they don't know how they work. But if they fly away in the Stardevil Predator, failure won't feel so bad.

This ship looks like it flew between five different sci-fi movies and picked up the best parts of each. It's sleek and compact and the style screams that it's ready to go on a mission to blow up an evil planetary space station.

9 A Thousand Wings

Destiny 2 A Thousand Wings
  • No longer available.

It's incredibly obvious why this one is on the list. Not only does this ship have one of the coolest designs of anything that anyone can earn in Destiny 2, but it was also only available to those who went the extra distance and completed a difficult series of challenges to obtain it. This ship isn't obtained by random drop, but rather a test of skill.

Completing the secret quest The Whisper on Heroic difficulty and finding five hidden chests rewarded gamers with this ship's blueprint, and to get the finished ship they'll have to run the same quest on Heroic difficulty multiple times. It was one of Destiny 2's hardest quests, and running it successfully four times on Heroic was quite the hurdle to cross, making this ship one of Destiny 2's rarest. Sadly, for newer players, this beautiful Taken-themed vessel isn't available, but for the sake of long-time players, it deserves its spot on this list at least as an honorable mention.

8 Black Peregrine

Destiny 2 Black Peregrine
  • Can be acquired from the Eververse stores within Eververse packages.

So many of Destiny 2's ships have outlandish and bold designs, but Black Peregrine is able to stand amongst the best ships in the game with a relatively simple look. It's all mostly one color and there aren't many decorations or adornments attached, but its slender body emanates elegance.

Sure, some ships like A Thousand Wings might represent fantastic accomplishments or make a Guardian stand out because of their bright colors, but Black Peregrine is for a higher class of Guardian. Black Peregrine is for the classy player, the type who applies the same shader to each of their weapons so they match. It's the most elegant travel solution in all of Destiny 2, and it shows.

7 Waking Nightmare

Destiny 2 Waking Nightmare
  • Can sometimes be bought from the Eververse Store.

Some people want the role-playing experience where innocent civilians look up to the skies, see the player, and say, "Hooray, we are saved!" Others want to descend from the skies, have the bad guys look at each other, and say, "Well, we're dead." This is the ship for them.

The Waking Nightmare is the most aptly named ship on this list as it looks as though it has been ripped right out of a bad dream. The blades, exposed metallic hull, and asymmetrical design fashion an awesome and terrifying vessel, making mundane seasonal activities still feel hardcore.

6 Death to Kells

Destiny 2 Death to Kells
  • Can be acquired from Bright Engrams.

Death to Kells isn't the most elegant or attractive ship, but it's definitely one of the coolest. The design is unlike any of Destiny 2's other ships and there's actually a very interesting reason behind that fact.

The lore behind Death to Kells states that it was created by Avrok, a Fallen dreg who is one of Spider's associates. Avrok named the ship after his hatred of Kells, the Fallen leadership, as he felt he had been abandoned and ignored by Fallen society. Death to Kells is one of the only ships in Destiny 2 to be manufactured by a race other than humans, and its distinctly Fallen design is immediately noticeable to anyone who lays eyes on it.

5 Saint-14's Gray Pigeon

Destiny 2 Saint 14 Gray Pigeon
  • Can be acquired from Bright Engrams.

Arguably one of the only good things to come out of the heavily criticized Curse of Osiris expansion, Saint-14's Gray Pigeon is hands down one of the best ships in Destiny 2. It's one of the few ships in the game built to actually resemble something, in this case, the titular gray pigeon.

The ribbons that flow from its wings give the illusion of a bird soaring through the sky, and that's exactly the type of imagery people want to be associated with their ship. It also helps that Saint-14 was heavily featured in Destiny 2's Season of Dawn, which brought about many positive changes for the game.

4 Constellation Tracer

Destiny 2 Constellation Tracer Ship
  • Can be bought from the Eververse store.

On to some of the newer ships, the era of The Witch Queen expansion has significantly improved some of the Exotic vessels players have access to, and it definitely shows. The Constellation Tracer vessel is one of the best ships available in the Eververse store, perfect for players who enjoy a classic, clean and sleek sci-fi design.

Not only does the ship's body look cool, but its wings that emanate a slight glow give it an edge over some of the other vessels here. This is definitely the best ship for Guardians who take fashion seriously, and always want to arrive in style.

3 Hushed Syrinx

Destiny 2 Hushed Syrinx Ship
  • Can drop from a Flawless chest after completing a Flawless run of Trials of Osiris.

PVP lords and hardcore players were in for a treat in season 17 when Hushed Syrinx was first introduced as a Trials of Osiris drop. It was a great way to motivate players to chase wins in the game mode that's otherwise quite controversial.

In true Trials of Osiris fashion, it mimics a bird not only with its shape but also thanks to the feathers at the back of the ship. It's almost a nice upgrade from Saint-14's Gray Pigeon, with a slightly more edgy and cool design ideal for PVP players.

2 Exosporangion

Destiny 2 Exosporangion Ship
  • Can be bought from the Eververse store.

Egregore have been an interesting lore point in the game since the famed Glykon mission Presage, which rewarded players with the Dead Man's Tale scout rifle. Following the theme of that dungeon, as well as the general theme of season 17 where Egregore returned in the seasonal story missions, Bungie released a bunch of Egregore-tainted cosmetics, including this ship.

The overgrown look of this otherwise simple and somewhat ugly vessel is what makes it so incredibly unique. The Egregore is animated and its spores are glowing, making it a great investment for players who love the weird, horror-sci-fi aspect of Destiny 2.

1 Unixursal Voyager

Destiny 2 Unixursal Voyager Ship
  • Acquired at rank 16 from Xur's Treasure Hoard.

There is absolutely no question about the best ship in the entire game: that spot goes to the Unixursal Voyager. Why fly a ship, when one could simply fly a paracausal space rock? Pair this up with the Photo Finish shader, and players now have an RGB rave-party space rock their Guardian can party in.

The rock's best feature is how well it takes most shaders in the game. It can go from looking like a lump of something brown to a brilliant, shiny diamond. Once players equip the infamous rock ship, it's hard to justify switching to anything else. Oh, and to top it off, it also has a unique effect when flying through space, which makes it look like a comet.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
