In its latest This Week at Bungie article, Bungie announced how loot pools will be changing in Destiny 2's next season of content. These changes involve the retirement of many beloved weapons from activity reward pools.

Weapons of note that will still be available next season are the Faction Rally weapons reintroduced this season and Truthteller and Nature of the Beast, both of which will be getting random rolls for the first time. Any weapons listed below will not be earnable this summer and beyond in Destiny 2. They will be "sunset" at the beginning of this fall and Bungie emphasized that any sunset weapon will not be part of the season 11 loot pool. If players desire a specific roll or just want to pad out their collection, they have a couple of weeks to grab them.

Duke Mk. 44

forsaken_hand_cannon

Duke Mk. 44 is a 110 rounds per minute (RPM) hand cannon and it is part of the generic loot pool, which means Duke can drop as an engram on the floor in any activity. This has been a great long-range hand cannon for PvP and has seen use in high-end PvE for its hard-hitting damage traits. Rampage and Kill Clip perks can be coupled with Outlaw or Rapid Hit for a very efficient playstyle.

Since it is an Aggressive Frame hand cannon, Duke can kill a Guardian in just two headshots with any damage buff. For PvP, Rangefinder, Opening Shot, and Moving Target will greatly increase the ease of use while High-Caliber Rounds will hamper your opponent's ability to aim.

Last Man Standing

gambit_shotgun

This is a really great feeling shotgun for PvE. It's most notable perk combination is One-Two Punch with Grave Robber, or Swashbuckler with Grave Robber. Both One-Two Punch and Swashbuckler increase damage output combined with a melee ability and Grave Robber automatically reloads a part of the magazine after a melee kill for sustained enemy clearing. A perk that can allow for some interesting builds is Demolitionist, which grants grenade energy after every kill and reloads the weapon when using a grenade.

It is very easy to kill lesser enemies with shotguns, which means Demolitionist can be of great utility in activities where enemies tend to swarm, like Menagerie, Escalation Protocol, and Altars of Sorrow. Last Man Standing can be earned from Gambit Prime or Reckoning.

Spare Rations

This 150 RPM Gambit Prime/Reckoning hand cannon needs no introduction. It is still the most widely used competitive hand cannon in the Crucible, offering superb aim-assist and recoil direction. Spare Rations also has the largest hand cannon magazine size at 13 bullets, tied with Ace of Spades. The gun has many PvP-oriented perks, such as Rapid Hit and Snapshot Sights in the first slot and Slideshot, Rangefinder, and Moving Target in the second. The curated roll features exclusive perks, namely, Overflow and Explosive Payload. The former will double the already ample magazine when activated, while the latter will let players engage at longer distances and give body shots more punch.

Doomsday

Doomsday comes solely from Reckoning and is one of the only two heavy grenade launchers that can roll with Demolitionist and Full Court. Demolitionist can be quite potent on area-of-effect weapons since a shot can clear out a group of enemies, instantly giving players back their grenade. If players want a competitive DPS weapon, the Spike Grenades magazine perk is a must-have alongside Full Court. Grenade Launchers can be hindered by their reload times, so Auto-Loading Holster or Field Prep can come in handy during damage phases. If players would like a more forgiving weapon over optimal damage, then Proximity Grenades is a worthwhile perk.

Service Revolver

Only available from Vanguard activities or Zavala himself, Service Revolver is one of the best feeling hand cannons for controller users. It is very easy to control and has great stability. Service Revolver can come with damage perks like Rampage or Kill Clip, which can be coupled with Outlaw or Rapid Hit for a fast and deadly hand cannon. With damage buffs, it can down a player in 3 headshots but Moving Target, Rangefinder, and Opening Shot are great traits for buffing its usability. This gun is a very safe pick for PvP activities.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
