One of the most compelling features of Destiny 2 is that players can do what they want with their builds and loadouts, to the point that every time Bungie makes some major changes, the meta shifts accordingly. Weapons are not the only variable when it comes to builds, and while armor Exotic pieces do have an impact on how effective a build is, another very important factor to consider are mods. During Destiny 2's most recent Season of the Splicer, there are seasonal mods like Breach and Clear and Energy Accelerant that are game-changing in their own way.

Breach and Clear is especially good in both solo PVE and group play with Raids and Grandmaster Nightfall Strikes. This particular mod will most likely be used even in the upcoming Hard Mode for Vault of Glass. Of course, Breach and Clear calls for the use of a grenade launcher, and one of the most used and best-performing ones is Anarchy, which can now only be obtained by paying its price at the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower. Anarchy is a dominant weapon in Destiny 2's meta, and it has been for quite some time, even prior to the introduction of Breach and Clear. While it's expensive or troublesome to get Anarchy, there are some powerful alternatives.

Xenophage

xenophage destiny 2 machine gun

While this Exotic machine gun is not the best choice for optimal DPS against bosses, Xenophage is a very reliable gun that packs an extra punch and is really easy to use. Thanks to its damage being Solar, and Xenophage dealing area damage as well, this machine gun is a great source of Warmind Cells when combined with Wrath of Rasputin, which can make all the difference in clearing really fast. Xenophage is also really good in other game modes, like Gambit and solo GM Nightfalls, and it can be one of the best weapons to use in order to destroy the Oracles within the Vault of Glass Raid.

The Lament

beyond light

The Lament is an Exotic sword, and it is also one of the weapons with the highest DPS in Destiny 2, especially when using its blade-revving mechanic to unleash an extremely powerful combo on the enemies. This sword also comes with an incredibly useful perk that lets its users break the shields of Barrier Champions, which comes in quite handy in solo runs of either GM Nightfalls and Legend Lost Sectors. As far as Raids go, this weapon should be used only during encounters that don't put the player too much at risk, because swords are still melee weapons.

Crown-Splitter/Falling Guillotine

Speaking of swords, there are more weapons to use in the Power weapon slot, and two of them are the Titan-exclusive sword Crown-Splitter and the Falling Guillotine. These are both Void weapons that deal area damage, and as such, they can be paired with Warmind's Decree to generate Warmind Cells on kill. However, what makes these swords awesome is their DPS numbers: Falling Guillotine can unleash a powerful AoE spin that hits really hard, but Crown-Splitter can be even more devastating thanks to its charged attack. Combined with Energy Accelerant, Crown-Splitter can deal incredible single-target damage, especially if buffed with other means.

Rocket Launchers with Lasting Impression

destiny 2 rocket launcher

A great way to improve DPS on rocket launchers is by having one rolled with a perk introduced in Season 13: Lasting Impression. This weapon trait allows rocket launchers to shoot a missile that attaches to enemies, dealing impact damage when it hits, and then explodes after a short duration to inflict even more damage. Among the most popular rocket launchers that can roll this perk, players should look for Hezen Vengeance, Royal Entry, and Code Duello, maybe pairing Lasting Impressions with either Impulse Amplifier or Auto-Loading Holster for maximum efficiency.

Deathbringer (With Catalyst)

Speaking of rocket launchers, Deathbringer is an Exotic gun that can dish out incredible damage, especially so if combined with its must-have catalyst. According to Ehroar, a Destiny 2 YouTuber and content creator, Deathbringer can reach up to 112k DPS with two rockets fired, which goes down to around 90k for four rockets. This is still the best sustained DPS in the game. Players should also try to pair Deathbringer with useful mods like Rocket Launcher Loader (the seasonal version), which costs 1 Energy and speeds up the process of reloading the gun. Perhaps Argent Ordnance as well (increased damage and reload speed), combined with ways to gain the Charged with Light buff.

Power Grenade Launchers

While Anarchy is the go-to Power grenade launcher in Destiny 2, it is also quite hard to get for players who don't regularly run Raids. However, because of Breach and Clear, it is quite hard to give up on grenade launchers as a whole. As such, awesome alternatives include either Berenger's Memory, Crowd Pleaser, or Interference 6, all rolled with Spike Grenades and Demolitionist, with a possible addition being Clown Cartridge or Auto-Loading Holster.

Spike Grenades is a crucial perk to have because of its bonus damage, which the Power grenade launchers especially need. Even more so for Berenger's Memory, which is the easiest to acquire of the bunch but also the one with the lowest Radius. Soon, however, Bungie will also make old weapons from the Moon and the Dreaming City be available again with a new set of updated perks, and that means Guardians should keep an eye on another grenade launcher called Love and Death, which was Sunset in Season 12.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
