In Destiny 2, female characters play a key role in the narrative of the game. Whether these female characters are Guardians, of a whole other species, or villainous, they have remained memorable for a good reason. Destiny 2 has featured characters from a range of representations with more surely to come in this first-person shooter.
The best female characters in Destiny 2 have their strengths. Some harbor great skill and intellect, and others may hold a great power yet to be wielded against Light or Dark. What’s worth noting is that Destiny 2 strives to bring complex and well-written female characters into the game through its continuing story.
10 Amanda Holliday
She may not be a Guardian, but that does not stop Amanda Holliday from embarking on dangerous missions to assist other humans across the EDZ. Amanda had a hard childhood and she lost both her parents on her way to the Last City. However, she came out stronger for it, and dedicated her life to being a Guardian, just without the immortality gifted by the Traveler.
Amanda was a talented shipwright and an even better pilot. Her personality could shine through any situation and Guardians always knew they were safe when Amanda Holliday was watching the skies. After her tragic sacrifice, many fans hope Amanda Holliday is resurrected as a Guardian.
9 Empress Caital
With an Empress leading the mighty Cabal, a new era is forged for the warmongering race due to Caital’s commitment to eradicating the forces of Darkness and the Hive. Caital shares a common goal with humanity and has since allied with the Guardians. Both factions are committed to fighting the Witness. Caital has proved her alliance holds on many occasions.
Empress Caital is brave, fierce, and certainly, someone that Guardians would not want to mess with, even if they had the best glaive in Destiny 2. She’s hulking in size and battle experience, and her battle cries of “eating the mountains” and “drinking the seas” shows just how great a fit of a leader she is for the Cabal, even with her father being the exiled emperor Calus.
8 Deputy Commander Sloane

As a Titan Guardian, Sloane served the Vanguard with a sworn allegiance to Commander Zavala. She was vital during the Red War, in which she helped secure the moon of Titan from the Hive, without Light, and created an outpost for the Vanguard. Sloane is trusting, commanding, and a great ally that needs to return to Destiny 2.
With the arrival of the Black Fleet, Titan disappeared, along with Sloane. The last that was seen from Sloane was when she found power armor that combines with her Light, giving the godly strength that she uses to battle Hive on an infinite scale. Sloane’s dedication to war against the Darkness makes her a great character due for a comeback.
7 Exo Stranger
There was once a time when the Exo Stranger had no time to explain why she has no time to explain, but, thankfully, that time has passed. Since the original Destiny game, players now know a lot more about the Exo Stranger, whose real name is Elisabeth Bray.
What makes Elsie so interesting is the fact that she is stuck in a time loop, doomed to repeat the events of humanity’s demise until she can find a way out of it. For her current loop, she has befriended the Guardian, and her ultimate goal is to save her sister through any means necessary. Surviving the end of the universe an untold amount of times may damage one’s mental state, but not Elisabeth Bray.
6 Sagira
Ghosts rarely get their time to shine, but Sagira was the best friend and ally of the legendary Warlock Osiris. Sagira has a unique personality. She is not afraid to let her voice be heard. For years, she would debate and help Osiris, together they forged a path through the Infinite Forest to better understand the Vex.
Unfortunately, Sagira died whilst sacrificing herself to save Osiris. Sagira’s death still hangs heavy over Osiris, but in her sacrifice, she showed what kind of character she is: noble, selfless, and a true friend to those she cares about.
5 Savathûn
Although Savathûn might not be the hero of Destiny 2, that does not mean she lacks worthiness for one of the best female characters in the series. Savathûn, the Witch Queen, has lived for eons. Her goals do not align with the Darkness, nor do they align with the Light. As the god of cunning and lies, Savathûn’s true motivations remain with herself, even after her death. Players can still mess with Savathûn through the daily missions on her Throne World.
The dedication and deception of Savathûn are understood only by herself, as she seeks the deepest secrets that the universe has to offer, with the ultimate power to confuse and destroy. Savathûn has led the Witness and its Disciples on a chase, showing just how intelligent and unbending her will is.
4 Ana Bray
Ana Bray is a rare Guardian for a multitude of reasons, but one of those reasons is that she searched the solar system for her name. When Guardians are reborn, they have no memory of who they were, but Ana Bray, saw this as a quest, one that she succeeded in. Through finding her identity, Ana Bray may have just saved humanity.
Ana Bray ventured to Mars to rescue and recruit the Warmind known as Rasputin. Her partnership and bond with Rasputin was something shared only between them. It was thanks to Ana Bray’s humanity that Rasputin was able to become an ally.
3 Mara Sov
The Awoken Queen of the Reef has many responsibilities and burdens. She is a person of undivided dedication to her people, exhibiting an enigmatic and ruthless nature that keeps her motives unknown to all but herself. She is cunning and sees a rivalry with the Hive forces of Oryx and Savathûn.
Mara Sov is no stranger to allies. In the coming years of the Black Fleet, Mara Sov has become more friendly and welcoming of the Guardians, to the point where she will dedicate her energy and people to saving those that need her. Although her acts of saving the Last City seem selfless, her agenda remains to be seen.
2 Eris Morn
Few characters in Destiny 2 have suffered more than Eris Morn. Yet, despite everything she has been through, Eris refuses to be bound to her suffering and trauma, and instead, strives to make sure that others do not share her fate or worse. Eris is the last of her fire team, a Guardian with no Ghost, and a human with Hive eyes.
Eris is an expert on the Hive. Her expertise has been vital to the Vanguard and she continues to be one of the most important allies in the game due to her understanding of the nature of Darkness itself. Perhaps Eris has motives past what she tells Guardians, but for now, she is a valued ally in the coming wars.
1 Ikora Rey
As the Warlock Vanguard, many Guardians look up to Ikora Rey with good reason. Not only does she oversee many operations for the Vanguard, but she leads The Hidden, an extensive network of Guardians that act as the secret intelligence from across the solar system to better understand the threats that lurk against humanity.
As the years progress, and Ikora takes greater losses from killed allies, her stance in the Vanguard dwindles, and her secrets against Zavala grow due to the aggressive stance that she takes to defend the Last City. Ikora is a calming presence amongst the Guardians, but if she snaps, the Witness will shudder, especially if she weilds the Conditional Finality Exotic shotgun.
