The Eververse shop is the primary source for cosmetic items in Destiny 2. While players can apply shaders and armor ornaments to legendary armor and weapons, pieces of exotic armor have specific ornaments that they can use and exotic weapons can only use ornaments, not shaders. This means that any Guardians who want to be able to fully customize their look in Destiny 2 probably have a piece of exotic gear or two that they want ornaments for. Luckily the Bungie 30th Anniversary event in Destiny 2 has ushered in several new ornament options as well as a couple of other pieces of content for fans to covet.

However, because the Eververse shop in Destiny 2 utilizes Silver, a special in-game currency, many of the items that players will likely want will cost them money. Some of the Bungie 30th Anniversary items are likely to be featured as part of Bright Dust sales as the season progresses, but for players that have been investing their Bright Dust rather than saving it the coming weeks could be a waiting game full of risk/reward chances. The upside is that players who want to get the Halo weapons in Destiny 2 won’t need to worry about purchasing ornaments from the shop to get the looks that remind them of John-117.

The new Comets Stir in Dream armor ornament for Cuirass of the Falling Star in Destiny 2.

Two of the best pieces of cosmetic gear to come out of the Bungie 30th Anniversary event are also cosmetic items for two of the most used pieces of exotic armor in PvE. The first is the Comets Stir in Dream exotic armor ornament for the Cuirass of the Falling Star exotic Titan chest piece. The Cuirass of the Falling Star chest piece buffs the middle tree Titan super and has helped to make the Thundercrash super a draw for new players. At 600 Silver the ornament comes out to roughly $6 but because of the way Silver is priced players would need to purchase the 1,000 Silver pack, which also comes with an extra 100 Silver, for about $10.

Similarly, the other extravagant armor ornament that players are likely to want is also 600 Silver. The Phoenixfall armor ornament adds flair to the Phoenix Protocol armor that otherwise isn’t present in the piece of exotic Warlock armor. With the metal cast wings of a phoenix wrapping around the player’s character the Phoenixfall armor ornament is a noticeable step up from the armor’s usual look and feels like a matching piece when combined with the new armor from the Grasp of Avarice dungeon.

For players looking to upgrade a couple of weapons though two different ornaments stand out. Both of these options are also for weapons from the Forsaken expansion that is being vaulted in February of 2022. Both the exotic hand cannon Lumina and the bow Le Monarque received ornaments that make them flashier than their standard looks elevating the feel they have when wielded by Guardians.

Lumina’s new ornament, The Pink Mist costs 700 Silver and covers that gun in a shiny pink and purple skin that appears to glow. At 700 Silver, it is a little more expensive than the armor ornaments above but the particle effects that appear on the weapon also look flashier. It can be a hard decision especially for an exotic weapon that isn’t as popular but hopefully, the new differentiated cooldowns in Destiny 2 weapons like Lumina shine in the future in the Crucible.

Le Monarque’s new ornament, however, might share the same price but switches roles with Lumina. As a void bow, Le Monarque can be incredibly useful thanks to the Overload Champion mod in Season of the Lost and the bow’s poison-spreading perk. The purple pallet for Poison Wings Spread matches the toxic nature of Le Monarque and its Void elemental class while the ornament's name is a fitting description of the weapon itself. It’s a solid option both as an ornament and a weapon, and a great cosmetic for Guardian’s that favor Le Monarque in Destiny 2 and are looking to buy an ornament or two during the 30th Anniversary event.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
