It's been an interesting 48 hours for Destiny 2 and its community of players. This week's reset brought with it Niobe Labs, a new area in the European Dead Zone that players were eager to jump into as it held the key to unlocking the final forge for all players. Unfortunately, the new location proved to be overwhelming for even the most hardcore of Destiny players as they dropped off one by one due to overly obtuse puzzles and a hostile checkpoint system.

Before long, Niobe Labs became Destiny 2's hardest and longest piece of content by keeping some fireteams attempting to finish the puzzle well over the 24-hour hour mark. Nearly a day and a half later, Bungie relented and opened the final forge for all players even though at that point, no one had earned the title of world's first.

While it may not have unlocked like other community-wide events like The Last Wish Raid, the final Black Armory forge is now available for all Destiny 2 annual pass players. Here's how to reignite Bergusia Forge and overcome its many challenges.

Where to Find It

Before getting started, Bergusia Forge can only be accessed by those who have first purchased the annual pass content. In addition, the recommended power level for this activity is 650, the current maximum available.

The forge itself is located in the southeastern part of the European Dead Zone, over the bridge and beyond Sojourner's Camp. Follow the path down into the aforementioned Niobe Labs and this time, the large blast doors will open for approaching players.

Ignite the Forge

Inside the forge, players will be met with light resistance from some Fallen and Cabal patrolling the grounds. Approach the center object to reignite the forge at any time, but one thing to note is that this final forge takes a few elements from the previous forges. Players will again need to survive three waves of enemies and kill glowing blue enemies to find batteries which need to be thrown into the forge to increase the timer. When attempting to throw a battery, make sure to aim at the top center of the structure as hitting one of the side pieces that jut out will cause the battery to miss and land on the ground.

The first two waves require 20 batteries each, but the final wave throws down a boss that players will need to take down. The Black Recluse is a Fallen Walker Tank, which Destiny 2 players should be well versed in taking down at this point. Aim at the walker's legs to break off its armor and expose its core. At this point, the walker falls for a brief time so players should do as much damage as possible to the core before it stands back up. Repeat this process as many times as needed to destroy the tank and finish the forge.

Special Rewards and the Black Armory Key

As the toughest forge event currently available to players based on power level, Bergusia Forge also offers some of the best rewards. It's entirely possible to earn multiple Prime/Exotic Engrams during this mission, so for many players, it may be a good spot to farm, or eventually, level up once the power level increases during the next Destiny 2 season.

Better yet, Bergusia is also capable of dropping weapon frames from other forges. For those frames that require Gofannon or Volundr being completed, players actually have a chance of seeing the frame drop at Bergusia as well. Players also have a small chance of getting the new exotic fusion rifle Jotunn from completing this activity as well. As of right now, this weapon is extremely powerful as it essentially shoots a charged fireball that tracks enemies and explodes on impact.

For players working on the mysterious box quest, Bergusia Forge contains two more drones that appear during the moments between each forge wave. Destroying them bestows the Maximum Temper buff, something forge runners should be familiar with from the previous events. With the forge now at maximum temper, players need to finish off the forge completely to earn the Black Armory Key which opens the box. Unfortunately, this isn't the final step as a new quest step appears. Keep in mind that all previous box steps including the Butterfly, Fishhook, and Hand Key, need to first be completed before the Black Armory Key can be found.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
