Since Destiny 2's move to Steam with Shadowkeep in October 2019, players on PC in certain regions have been experiencing consistent connection issues and 'Beaver' error codes. After months of searching for an answer, it seems Bungie has found the source of the Beaver codes.

In a tweet by Bungie Help, the company stated: "On July 16, we identified a source of most of the BEAVER errors appearing on PC," before posting its weekly blog post explaining that it was an issue on Valve's end. Players had seen some improvements in error codes at the beginning of the week, but it seems that the errors have finally been fixed.

The issue appeared to affect data centers in Chicago, Virginia, Stockholm, and Dubai, effectively causing server issues for players across those regions. Due to Destiny 2's peer-to-peer connection model, if fans attempted to connect to another relay in the same data center, a disconnection would occur. Videos and clips from YouTube and Twitch showed frustration at the constant issues, and some even recommended that Bungie remove certain game modes until the issues were resolved. Thankfully, the source of the errors has been located and solved.

While the cause of those specific PC disconnects has been fixed, Guardians will still receive 'Beaver' errors for other disconnections, as that is the codename for that specific purpose. This fix has been widely praised by players, as the issues were affecting the returned Trials of Osiris game mode, as well as endgame PVE content.

With the game coming to Xbox Game Pass in September and Beyond Light launching in November, Bungie seems to be on a roll with good news. Players will be able to wield Darkness abilities in the upcoming expansion and when the game launches on the Xbox Series X and PS5, console players will finally be able to experience the game in higher frame rates and graphical fidelity. Now it seems PC players won't have to worry about connection issues anymore.
