Not too long ago, Reddit user Boobel posted a petition for players to be able to get a free Destiny 2 Shadowkeep expansion in exchange for collecting Baryon Bough, a resource found in the Dreaming City. While this petition may have been little more than a joke, Bungie Community Manager Cozmo accepted it, beginning an impromptu challenge for players to collect the maximum amount of Baryon Bough possible in Destiny 2. Now, one Twitch streamer by the name of Sweatcicle has completed this seemingly impossible task.

To say this wasn't a simple challenge would be an understatement, as estimates for the grind suggest that it would take 8-12 hours per day, for approximately one month, to get it done prior to the release of Shadowkeep. This estimate was based on running the Aphelion's Rest Lost Sector as fast as possible to collect the Baryon Bough, and then wiping, respawning, and repeating for more. The amount of time required isn't the only difficulty posed by this Destiny 2 challenge, as inventory slots are also quite limited.

In fact, to collect the maximum amount of Baryon Bough, Destiny 2 players would need to fill their Vault (all 50 material slots) and stack 999 Baryon Bough per inventory slot as well. Technically, this limits the number of Baryon Bough that players can get to 99,900, but Sweatcicle's achievement is impressive none the less. Now, Cozmo just has to verify the information, as Sweatcicle has reached out with proof of his accomplishment on Twitter .

The Destiny 2: Shadowkeep Collector's Edition retails for roughly $150, but it managed to sell out quickly. So, for many, this impromptu challenge may have been the only way to get their hands on one at this point. By collecting the maximum amount of Baryon Bough, Sweatcicle has won a digital code for the expansion as well as digital in-game bonuses, the soundtrack, an exclusive in-game emblem, a Hive Cryptoglyph Replica, Metal Luna Mission Container, a Luna Mission Handbook, Luna Journal, and Artifact from the Golden Age.

Once Sweatcicle's achievement is verified, he'll just have to wait a little longer than a month to dive into Shadowkeep, where Destiny 2 players will return to the moon under the guidance of Eris Morn, will unlock the new Armor 2.0 system, will earn finishing moves, and will find new exotics, with one strange new exotic heavy machine gun already having been revealed for Destiny 2: Shadowkeep.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep releases September 17, 2019, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
