In Season of the Lost, Destiny 2 players can join two seasonal activities to try and get more of the new loot and progress the story missions. The first activity, called Astral Alignment, can be particularly confusing for newer Destiny 2 players and those trying to make sense of it when starting Season of the Lost. This guide is meant to make things clearer and explain the different phases.

Astral Alignment, Phase 1 - Crush the Intruders

The first step is the easiest, and players are teleported inside the Blind Well. Here, the goal is to kill all enemies, which are also few and not too hard to defeat. Once that is done, players should insert their Wayfarer's Compass in the middle of the Blind Well to go to the next phase.

Astral Alignment, Phase 2 - Collapse the Taken Rifts

The second phase can be quite hectic and complex if players don't know what to do. Here, Taken yellow-bar enemies will spawn and be marked by quest markers; these are called Eye of Xvu Arath, and the goal is to kill them.

Once they are dead, a sphere appears in their place for players to collect. Once grabbed, the sphere cannot be thrown away, and it stacks a timed debuff on the player. The debuff is called Taken Essence Antumbra, and once it reaches ten stacks, the player holding the sphere dies, and the sphere is lost.

The goal is to carry the sphere over to any of the rifts marked on the map by quest markers and arrows. Once enough rifts have been collapsed this way, players can move on to the next phase. Still, in between rifts, either Overload or Unstoppable Champions will spawn.

Astral Alignment, Phase 3 - Installing Batteries

Actually, there are two variants for phase 3, but the Ether Collector one has been disabled because it wasn't working as intended. In Installing Batteries, players have to locate the batteries to complete the challenge on one of the platforms.

The objective is to have players carry the spheres over to the devices in the ground near the Destiny 2 Beacon, but players should know that the batteries impose a debuff. This is called Encumbered, and it slows players down by a lot. When the status runs out, though, players will automatically drop the battery.

Once all batteries have been delivered, the Taken bosses in the area will become vulnerable to damage. Once they are defeated, players will move to phase 4.

Astral Alignment, Phase 4 - Kill Kholks, Taken of Xivu Arath

Players will now return to the Blind Well, where a boss called Kholks will spawn. After each damage phase, Kholks replenishes its shield and becomes invulnerable to damage.

Players should look for Taken Blights - black bubbles of corruption with a Taken core to destroy the shield.

When the core is destroyed, a yellow-bar Taken will spawn. Once killed, it will drop a sphere similar to those from phase 2, with which players can pick up and shoot Kholks' shield with. This will deplete the shield after several hits, leaving the boss vulnerable.

Once the boss is dead, two chests will spawn. One's loot is free for all players; the other requires 150 Parallax Trajectory tokens to be opened.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
