It’s a new week in Destiny 2, which means that several activities and challenges have reset. Chief among them is the new Ascendant Challenge for Week 3, which will have players once again entering the Ascendant realm to collect some loot. The challenge is also one of Petra’s Weekly Bounties that are key to more powerful gear and increasing one’s power level above 500.

The Ascendant Challenge for Week 3 starts with finding the blight. This week Destiny 2 players will find the entrance in the Spire of Keres. Most will recognize this as the area where they take the Oracle Offering to complete another of Petra’s weekly bounties.

To find the Spire of Keres, head to the left after spawning into the Divalian Mists and then circle around to the south. Follow the path by jumping over some cliffs and then enter the Spire of Keres. The blight is well off the beaten path so follow the video to find its specific location.

Compared to some of the past Ascendant Challenges, this week’s is fairly simple but there is still plenty of room for error. Essentially, players will want to make their way up a series of broken platforms until they reach a circular opening in the sky. Getting up those platforms is not going to be easy, though, as there are a few Taken booby traps scattered along the way.

It appears to be random, but the platforms can either have Taken bombs that explode (on a timer) when touched or the Taken blast pads that launch players into the air. Since more than half of the challenge is about platforming, the bombs are likely to be the preferred deterrent, but the blast pads are not too hard to work around either.

Once Destiny 2 players reach the final area a Taken Cabal Phalanx will appear, along with some shadow thrall. Defeat the Phalanx to complete the challenge and then collect the chest and loot. Depending on players’ power levels, the Phalanx should be fairly easy to take down but we recommend waiting to collect full power ammo and a charge super before going into the challenge. That way, the Phalanx will die quickly.

Destiny 2: Forsaken is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
