With the release of the Forsaken expansion, Destiny 2 got random rolls on armor, which of course, means a collection of armor perks that did not exist in the first year of the game. There is a pretty wide variety of perks from which players can choose to maximize the effectiveness of their particular loadout or playstyle.

So how does someone get a perfectly built armor set? Well, it's a very fluid process with no one perfect perk combination. It is entirely dependent on what weapons and abilities each individual player favors.

Destiny 2 content creator Datto has put together a video going in-depth about virtually all of the armor perks now in the game. Continue reading below for an overview of how armor perks work and on which pieces to find each particular perk.

First off, when it comes to endgame armor from the Dreaming City and the raid, players will want to look out for "Enhanced" perks. Some perks actually have an Enhanced version which ups the effectiveness of that perk. The tooltip on an Enhanced perk will read "Greatly increases..." as opposed to just plain "increases...". There are also lesser versions of each perk which will say "slightly increases...".

Head armor focuses on targeting perks, which give greater aim assist and accuracy when using a specific type or group of weapons; perks that will increase the overall amount of ammo special weapons (i.e. shotguns and sniper rifles) can hold; and perks that grant increased super energy when performing an action like melee attacks of getting shotgun kills.

Gauntlets focus on perks that increase reload speed, Scavenger perks that make picking up ammo grant more rounds to specific weapons per pickup, perks that grant extra energy to abilities, and some unique perks like Fastball that give greater grenade throwing distance.

Chest armor focuses on unflinching perks that slightly reduce the amount of flinch caused while using the specific weapons each perk identifies, perks that grant more reserve ammo, and ammo finder perks that are meant to cause certain types of ammo to drop more often.

Leg armor comes with Dexterity perks that boost the stow and ready speed of specific weapons, more class ability perks, and more Scavenger perks.

Lastly, class items focus on orb pickup bonus perks (i.e. get health upon orb pickup, gain super energy upon orb pickup) and a wide array of other perks in the secondary slot that includes Scavenger, ammo finder perks, and more.

Knowing this information will help players focus on where to find the perks they may want and work on creating a specific armor build that caters to their specific playstyle. While many of these perks don't make a tremendous difference (as shown by much of Datto's testing in the video above), this does give players the option to add small benefits to their gameplay experience.
