Destiny 2 Armor Purchasing Bug Will Not Be Fixed for Next Faction Rally

Destiny 2 players are upset that they cannot purchase faction armor from vendors, and according to Bungie, this will not be fixed before the next Faction Rally event.

Destiny 2’s limited time Faction Rally event has seen several issues since the launch of Season 3 and the big changes that came with it. During the last Faction Rally, players learned that they were unable to purchase armor from the various vendors with no explanation from Bungie. Today, Bungie Community Manager Cozmo tweeted out an explanation, saying that the issue will be fixed with Destiny 2 update 1.2.3, which launches well after the next Faction Rally, leaving many fans disappointed and frustrated with the whole event.

According to Cozmo, the bug popped up when Bungie added seasonal progression rewards to Destiny 2, which conflicted with the ability to purchase armor in the game. Because of this, Bungie disabled armor purchases, which made the last Faction Rally a big grind for players who didn’t already have a full set of faction armor. With the new Renown Stat being tied to faction armor, many players were left grinding at a slower pace while waiting for faction armor to drop randomly from reward packages.

This is not the only frustration for the Faction Rally events, as Bungie also made it so players lose renown when fast traveling from drop zone to drop zone, regardless of if it is on the same planet or not. Many players saw this as a tactic to slow down the grind, and many fans were upset by this design choice. Bungie has not stated if this will be changed in the future.

Update 1.2.3, which will fix the armor purchasing bug, launches July 17 and brings several changes to Destiny 2. Several exotic armor pieces are getting buffed to make their exotic perks more potent. The Solstice of Heroes event is also scheduled to launch with the update as well, though Bungie has not stated what the event entails. Year One triumphs will also be kicking off, allowing players to make sure they have experienced the best of what Destiny 2 Year One has to offer.

While this armor buying bug does need to be fixed, many fans are upset that it is not happening sooner. Season 3 of Destiny 2 only features three Faction Rally events, and since pledging to a faction is account-wide, it makes the grind incredibly rough for players who do not already have the full set of gear. Hopefully, with the launch of Forsaken, Bungie will make sure that huge bugs like this do not ruin the fun for their fanbase.
