As Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted nears its completion, the player base has eagerly been awaiting concrete news about Bungie's plans for its next major subclass rework: Arc 3.0. The final Light ability subclass to receive its retrofit into the game's new, substantially more customizable ability system, virtually nothing was known about Arc 3.0 up until now, and many believed that nothing substantive would be revealed about the final rework until it actually launched.

Destiny 2 is leaping ahead of the curve this time around with an in-depth overview of some of the most important changes coming on August 23, some of which were expected, while others may yet prove downright unprecedented. The latest blog post reveals information about Arc 3.0's new Super abilities, Fragments, and more, as well as the general idea of what Bungie is attempting to accomplish here.

Though Bungie revealed a series of Destiny 2 Season 18 weapon buffs already, the studio's new Arc 3.0 blog post successfully overshadows much of its previous communication about the game's next big content drop. According to developers, Arc 3.0 is all about going fast, and the new buff - Amplified - passively boosts the Guardians' speed, weapon handling, and agility across the board. This approach is underlined further with the Blind and Jolt debuffs, wherein the former slows down and blinds the affected enemies, while the latter chain lightning between one another, dealing damage along the way.

Arcstrider Hunters are going to retain their combat staff, but they're also getting the Gathering Storm Super, which allows them to throw their spear at an enemy to deal area-of-effect damage over a longer period of time. Warlocks will retain Chaos Reach and Stormtrance Supers, which will be spiced up further with the addition of the Chain Lightning melee attack. Finally, Titans are getting upgraded Fists of Havoc and the Thundercrash, as well as the Thruster dash ability that sounds strangely similar to the one that caused Destiny 2's Twilight Garrison harassment incident.

All three Classes are also getting three major Aspects to choose from, each of which specializes in a particular aspect of Arc 3.0. These seemingly fulfill many of the players' expectations for Destiny 2's Arc 3.0 rework, as they seem to offer more customization options and functionality than Arc 3.0 has offered ever before, all the while seemingly retaining all the subclass's previously available boons.

The Arc 3.0 rework has been inspired by media such as One Punch Man and Jason Statham's Crank 2: High Voltage, according to Destiny designer Mike Humbolt, as the subclass is supposed to keep pushing players towards enemies to continuously refresh their buffs and dish out damage. Broadly speaking, Bungie has aptly avoided any references to the recent green Destiny 2 subclass leak, but that was to be expected.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
