Bungie turned three decades old this year. And while the developer’s birthday was back in May, the studio’s getting set to release Destiny 2’s 30th Anniversary Pack on December 7th. In addition to the new Weapon, Armor, Ornaments, and more, the latest release also includes a significant update to the hit MMO first-person shooter.

On Tuesday, Bungie offered a preview of Destiny 2’s next update as part of the studio’s This Week at Bungie blog post. The upcoming patch includes a long list of Photosensitivity Changes, adjustments to the Blind Well event, changes to how players acquire Exotic Ornaments, and a variety of other tweaks and fixes.

The upcoming 30th Anniversary Pack includes new Ornaments for various weapons and armor. As such, the most prominent new feature planned for December is the ability to view Exotic Ornaments while examining an Exotic Weapon or piece of Armor. Players will still need to buy the Ornaments from Destiny 2’s Eververse Trading Company. However, the new system allows players to purchase them directly from their inventory menu. Players can purchase Weapon Ornaments from the weapon’s Inspect interface and Armor Ornaments from the Inspect interface or the Guardian Appearance menu.

Bungie also encourages players to revisit the Blind Well event in Destiny 2’s Dreaming City location by increasing the drop rate for Dreaming City weapons. This should make things easier for anyone still trying to collect the complete set. Bungie also plans to introduce a variety of bug fixes and balance adjustments to Destiny 2’s Strike activity. These include changes meant to let players complete the activity more quickly and with fewer complete wipes. Other balance improvements include a cooldown on being hit by lighting from a Dunemarchers Titan Punch and the ability to cancel the Icefall Mantle’s stasis overshield.

Finally, Destiny 2’s patch preview includes a long list of Photosensitivity Changes. These are a variety of small and large adjustments to an extensive array of visual effects. The changes mainly involve reducing the brightness, contrast, and frequency of weapon flashes, explosions, and specific particle effects. This should improve Destiny 2’s visual experience for all players, but especially those with photosensitivity issues.

The blog post notes that players may see additional hotfixes if needed. However, Bungie doesn’t plan to introduce any significant changes until The Witch Queen expansion launches in February. As such, it’s no surprise developers crammed so much into Destiny 2’s last major patch of 2021.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Witch Queen expansion launches on February 22nd, 2022.
