Season of the Lost is only a few days in, and already there have been some big developments inside of Destiny 2. Savathun is now out in the open and working with players, along with Mara Sov, to save the Mara's lost Techeuns in the hopes of removing her worm as the game begins its march towards The Witch Queen. Players have also gotten their hands on some of the season's new gear, and one of the newest exotics is already due to get a nerf in PvP.
Lorentz Driver is the season pass' Exotic void linear fusion rifle, and is one of two new exotics in Season of the Lost. The weapon's intrinsic perk, Lagrangian Sight, marks one enemy randomly and if the player kills that enemy with the Driver, it drops a telemetry pattern for ability energy while collecting three without dying grants bonus damage.
It's the marking perk on Lorentz Driver that is already being abused in Crucible and forced Bungie to act. Community manager DMG confirmed this on Twitter, saying the tracking perk is going to be disabled inside of PvP for the time being. A hotfix will be rolled out in the near future, though a date has not been set.
The Lorentz Driver target marking is just the tip of the iceberg, as several other issues are cropping up to kick off Season of the Lost. Another exotic issue Bungie is going to address is the unexpectedly large damage boost the hunter exotic Lucky Pants is providing hand cannons after its rework went live at the start of the season.
There are other issues Bungie is planning to deal with as well, including certain quests and activity trackers not progressing and Trials of the Nine weapons not dropping from the Prophecy dungeon for some players.
New problems like these are nothing new to Destiny 2, though, as they typically appear after a new season goes live to the public. It's not surprising, either, as there is only so much that in-house testing can account for, especially in a live-service game like Destiny 2, being as large as it is and having as many active players as it does. The question then becomes how quickly Bungie can respond to these issues, which, if past seasons are any indication, is likely to be a relatively short turnaround for hotfix patches to be released.
