Discussion and speculation has been at an all time high over the past week as Destiny 2 players attempted to figure out how Bungie was going to end the current season. Since the very start of Season of the Worthy, players were made away that the Cabal were making one last ditch effort to destroy The Tower by smashing their huge warship into it. All season, players have been working with Rasputin to empower him to stop the catastrophic event from actually taking place. With just days left before the next season scheduled to begin, players finally know what's going to happen.

In a first for Destiny 2, Bungie is actually doing something a bit different than it has in the past. Earlier today the official Destiny 2 Twitter account revealed at long last. Rasputin is at full power and ready to deal with the incoming Cabal threat. While most fans likely thought a simple trailer would be shown at login to detail the event, Bungie has instead given players a date and time to be logged in to the Tower by that time.

Saturday June 6 at 10am PT, Rasputin will be taking aim at the looming ship. While this is normal reset time for each day, what's strange about this is that Bungie is giving players advanced notice to be sure and logged in at this time. This isn't likely going to rival what Fortnite has been doing with its own live events such as the Black Hole, but it is intriguing that Bungie is taking steps to ensure the community shows up on time to experience something together.

The studio has attempted to integrate more live events into Destiny 2, most recently seen in the Guardian Games where the three class flags were updated in real time based on player submissions. It's unlikely that an event of the magnitude of blowing up a huge ship and seeing the debris rain down in real time will happen based on the aging game engine Destiny 2 runs on, but it's possible that the instance is going to be changed or altered in some capacity.

Whatever happens, the Tower looks to be changed in some capacity. A surprising glitch earlier in the season may have tipped Bungie's hand a bit earlier than anticipated as a player somehow loaded into a destroyed version of the player hub. While the area isn't totaled, significant parts of The Tower are damaged, broken, and roughed up. It's likely that while Rasputin will get the job done, falling debris and particles will still end up smashing parts of The Tower. Either way, Bungie looks to be ending the season with a literal bang.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
