Bungie recently updated its Destiny 2 development roadmap, which details the direction the game will be heading all the way into September of this year. One notable change is the how Crucible content will be handled, with all of the new maps being made available to every player, regardless of whether they purchased the expansions or not.

For those unfamiliar, the development roadmap is split into seasons. Each season spans a period of time during the year, and each has its own scheduled content. The launch of the second Destiny 2 expansion, Warmind, marks the beginning of Season Three, as well as the start of the new Crucible changes. All of the new Crucible maps being developed for Warmind will be available to everyone in matchmaking. This goes for maps released in the previous expansion, Curse of Osiris, as well.

There is one exception, however. Private Matches are also coming to Destiny 2 during this season, and those wanting to play the various Crucible maps found in the expansions will need to purchase them in order to access that content. These Crucible changes go into effect on May 8, alongside with the release of Warmind.

The Destiny 2 roadmap details much more than just what's happening in the Crucible. The May 8 update also promises increased vault space, a multi-emote feature, and seasonal vendor progression. Looking a little further beyond that, the summer will bring a new seasonal event, as well as much needed improvements to Faction Rallies.

Finally, September will add some interesting, and potentially game-changing, content. The roadmap lists weapon slot changes and weapon randomization coming to Destiny 2. Some suggest this could indicate that weapon loadouts will revert to the way they were back in the original game, but that might be a stretch. The roadmap also notes that more content will be available during that time, but is to be disclosed at a later date, possibly hinting at the next major expansion.
