The new Curse of Osiris DLC has only been out for a little over a day but already Destiny 2 players are frustrated with the add-on expansion. While there is an ongoing debate about the quality of Curse of Osiris’ content and how substantial it is, most of the frustration stems from the fact the DLC locks base Destiny 2 players out of certain activities. Now, it appears the DLC's release also locks players out of acquiring an exotic weapon as well.

This issue first appeared when Destiny 2 players realized that, after Bungie raised the recommended power level to 330 for the Prestige Nightfall and Prestige Raid, players without the DLC would be unable to complete them. Since a player needs to have Curse of Osiris to increase their power level past 305, anyone without the DLC will find these activities impossible to complete. But the problem didn’t end there.

Now players are discovering that they can’t unlock the Legend of Acrius exotic shotgun because the Strike attached to the weapon’s unlock quest is power level 330. The Strike doesn’t say that it is PL 330 when hovering over it in the Destination Map, but players will soon find that out when the enemies decimate their fireteam.

acrius quest power level bug

This is likely an oversight by Bungie and is a little easier to fix than the contentious issue surrounding the Prestige Raid and Nightfall. Originally, Bungie built this strike, which is the Arms Dealer Strike, to be like a Prestige Nightfall so only the most skilled players would be able to unlock Legend of Acrius. And rather than write the code to keep the Strike at power level 300, Bungie must have tied it to the recommended power level of the Prestige Nightfall Strike.

There is no guarantee that Bungie will revert the recommended power level back down to 300, but the developer should at least address the content lockout. Players are understandably frustrated that they can’t access content they paid for, especially when it isn’t connected to Curse of Osiris in any way.

Many players are likely buying Destiny 2 this month because of the sales or as a present for someone else and it is understandably frustrating when those people have been cut off from content. Sure, an argument could be made that these players are only locked out of the Prestige versions of the Raid and Nightfall, but there is no way to earn the Legend of Acrius without owning the DLC now, and that’s a problem.

Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
