When Shadowkeep and the Season of the Undying launch in the coming months, Destiny 2 will likely see a new burst of exotic weapons join the fray. One strange Destiny 2 Shadowkeep exotic has already been revealed, for example, and it's powered by a crystallized bug. While the number of exotics that will be added in Shadowkeep is unknown, there's a solid chance that a number of them will be from the original Destiny.

It's worth noting that two Destiny 1 exotic weapons, Truth and Bad Juju, were added to Destiny 2 since the Season of Opulence began, and Outbreak Prime was released just before that. The constant addition of old exotics is something that Bungie has been criticized for from time to time, but it is also something that the fanbase can find joy in. This includes when fans were trolled with a fake Gjallarhorn in the Season of the Drifter.

So, prior to the launch of Shadowkeep, there are 35 exotics that have yet to appear in Destiny 2. It's impossible to know which exotics are added with the launch of the expansion, but if there is some lore that suggests that it could, then we've taken note of it below.

Primary Exotics

  • Necrochasm (Auto Rifle) – Due to this weapon's relationship with the moon, it seems likely a potential contender to return alongside Shadowkeep.
  • Vex Mythoclast (Fusion Rifle)
  • Khvostov (Auto Rifle)
  • Zhalo Supercell (Auto Rifle)
  • Monte Carlo (Auto Rifle) – Practically confirmed to return in the Destiny 2 Shadowkeep expansion, as eagle-eyed fans spotted it in the Out of the Shadows ViDoc
  • Fabian Strategy (Auto Rifle)
  • The First Curse (Hand Cannon)
  • Hawkmoon (Hand Cannon)
  • Red Death (Pulse Rifle)
  • No Time to Explain (Pulse Rifle) - Reportedly appeared in some Destiny 2 Shadowkeep footage, so a real possibility.

Special Exotics

  • Plan C (Fusion Rifle)
  • Pocket Infinity (Fusion Rifle)
  • Invective (Shotgun)
  • Universal Remote (Shotgun)
  • Zen Meteor (Sniper Rifle)
  • Hereafter (Sniper Rifle)
  • Patience and Time (Sniper Rifle)
  • Icebreaker (Sniper Rifle)
  • No Land Beyond (Sniper Rifle)
  • Dreg's Promise (Sidearm) – Because of Lord of Wolves and Queenbreaker being brought back, this seems like a possibility.
  • The Trespasser (Sidearm)

Heavy Exotics

  • Nova Mortis (Machine Gun)
  • Abbadon (Machine Gun)
  • Nemesis Star (Machine Gun)
  • Super Good Advice (Machine Gun)
  • Raze-Lighter (Sword)
  • Dark-Drinker (Sword)
  • Bolt-Caster (Sword)
  • The Young Wolf's Howl (Sword)
  • Dragon's Breath (Rocket Launcher) – Recent datamines suggest that this could be the exotic released in the next Solar Week.
  • Gjallarhorn – After Destiny 2's recent tease of this exotic, it wouldn't be a surprise for it to return, but we wouldn't hold our breath.

Ultimately, fans will need to wait until Shadowkeep launches later this year to find out what exotics will come to Destiny 2. In the meantime, there will be more than just exotics to look forward to.

One addition we know about is the forthcoming Shadowkeep finishing moves. These will trigger a special animation that potentially leaves guardians exposed in trade for some type of bonus that is attached to the player's armor.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
