The Demon's Souls Remake for the PS5 is one of the most highly anticipated next-generation games. Although there will be entirely new games for the PS5 at launch, the Demon's Souls Remake is considered a must-have. If a recent report is true for the game, one thing may be lacking. Demon's Souls will not have any new content whatsoever in the PS5 version; it will be true to the original.

Some fans were hoping that the Demon's Souls Remake would have finally add content to the 6th Archstone. In the original, the location was inaccessible, but many fans thought that it would open up with DLC, hidden Easter eggs, or something else of that nature. Now that a remake is on the way, some hoped that the 6th Archstone would finally open up, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Lance McDonald is a well-known modder in the Souls community for things like his 60FPS Bloodborne patch. According to McDonald, the Demon's Souls Remake has no new land to explore, as it uses the same file structure of the original. The names of items, enemies, objects, and more are all exactly the same, and in the exact same folder location as the original Demon's Souls. This all points to the game being as much of a 1-to-1 as possible.

With the Demon's Souls Remake reportedly going gold recently, it's likely that if actual files have been made available to the likes of McDonald that the information is final. If this is the case, fans can look forward to a genuinely authentic remake, but without fresh new content.

For fans, this shouldn't be a big issue, as many consider Demon's Souls to be the superior Souls game over Dark Souls, for example. The game has a great HUB area, more freedom in gameplay, and a dreadful and gorgeous atmosphere, one that the PS5 looks to be capturing remarkably well.

The excitement level for Demon's Souls is undeniable. While new content sounds nice, the core game is such a classic that fans will be happy to replay the game with visuals that truly look next-gen. While the report from McDonald should be taken with a grain of salt for now, it certainly would be more of a surprise for the game to have new content than to not. So until proven otherwise, the Demon's Souls Remake is simply going to be more of the same, which definitely isn't a bad thing.

Demon's Souls will release on November 12 exclusively for the PS5.
