As the title's November 12 release date draws ever closer, Bluepoint Games has slowly but surely been offering more details about the upcoming Demon's Souls remake. The challenging fantasy game already got a brand new gameplay trailer last week, highlighting its brutal combat, gargantuan bosses, and striking 4K visuals, alongside Bluepoint detailing some smaller, quality of life additions to the remake recently as well.

Today, the game's creative director, Gavin Moore, hopped onto the PlayStation Blog to discuss all things Demon's Soulsspecifically highlighting the game's character creation suite and photo mode. According to the developer, there will be more customization options present in the remake than were available in the PlayStation 3 classic, while photo mode will allow players to take stunning screenshots of the game's most action-packed moments.

"You don’t play as a muscle-bound barbarian or a mighty god but an average person, vulnerable and familiar," Moore claims when discussing Demon's Souls character creator mode, citing that players will need to grow attached to their avatar. As such, the remake will offer a number of character customization additions, with the suite of options vastly outweighing those available in the original game. According to Moore, the mode offers up to "16 million permutations," allowing anyone to make their perfect hero to slay the evil plaguing Demon's Souls kingdom of Boletaria. The post also offers a few snapshots of characters made in the creation suite, with the images highlighting just how varied the player's avatar can be.

As for the photo mode, Moore sees it as a way to allow players to share their proudest achievements or most brutal failures with friends. The creative director reveals that it has many of the features players would expect from a standard photo mode. Helmets can be toggled on and off, character models can be removed from a shot, and filters can be added to make intense scenes that much more cinematic. Players can even strike poses to capture the mood of their piece, whether that's celebration or commiseration. Moore reveals that the game's filters can also be used in standard gameplay, making for a switch-up to the standard style of the Demon's Souls remake.

Seeing as the Soulsborne franchise already has an avid fanbase that frequently share memes and community content, the photo mode is sure to produce some astounding and hilarious results. With Bluepoint gearing up to ship its next remake very soon, it seems Demon's Souls is quickly becoming a worthy successor to its source material, boasting a massive visual upgrade alongside some notable quality of life additions.

Demon's Souls will be available on November 12 exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
