The upcoming Bluepoint Games remake of From Software's Demon's Souls has quite a bit to live up to as the PS5 version attempts to bring the pseudo-prequel of the Dark Souls series to the next generation of gaming. However, Sony's recent State of Play has already given players an idea of how much attention Bluepoint has given to even the smaller details that fans have been asking for from the entire Souls series.

A number of fans were quick to notice these details that have been brought back from the original Demon's Souls, with Reddit users like u/RefreshSuggestions7 pointing out a highly requested feature to the death screen. While Bluepoint has added completely new visuals to the game, and upgraded native framerates and resolutions to 4K and 60 frames per second, it's what the developer has maintained that has captured fans' attention.

Death Screen Text

The specific detail that fans have noticed in the newly released Demon's Souls gameplay footage is the fact that the death screen, with the classic "You Died" text, includes an extra piece of text. This extra flair only takes the form of one extra sentence that had appeared in the original Demon's Souls and gave the larger text a little more substance to help slightly build out the lore.

Interestingly, the addition of this type of flavor text has been a fan request ever since the first Dark Souls game removed the additional sentence, setting the new standard for the series. However, seeing the return of this extra text to the death screen has also inspired some fans to make more requests of Bluepoint, including having extra text after defeating a boss.

Demon's Souls Fans Aren't Too Happy About the Font

Fans have already quickly begun to gather around the new detail, with many commenting on both the inclusion of the long requested flavor text and the game's choice of font. While players were definitely happy to see that Bluepoint had listened to fan requests, not everyone was satisfied when looking at the fairly basic look of the text, with little visual flair in font design. Normally, this would only be a slight critique, but considering how amazing the Demon's Souls remake looks, some players are more critical about one of the very few areas that didn't go above and beyond to bring the game to Next-Gen.

The same criticism about the death screen font can be said about a few different aspects of the visuals in the Demon's Souls remake, most importantly when it comes to the new UI. A number of commenters responding to RefreshSuggestions7's Reddit post even point out that something about the Menus and status bars feel off from the original in a negative way. These could still be early builds of the UI, but considering the release schedule, it's likely that what players have seen so far are what the game will launch with.

Demon's Souls is set to launch on November 12th, for PS5.
