Demon Turf, the exciting platformer mixing 2D visuals Parappa the Rappa style with a 3D world, dropped some exciting news during today's ID@Xbox event. Until recently, Demon Turf was announced as a self-published game coming to both PC and Nintendo Switch. It's now announced that Demon Turf will be published under the new Playtonic Friends, the publishing arm of Yooka-Laylee's developer Playtonic. This will be Playtonic Friends' first published game.

For the time being, the new publishing deal with Playtonic Friends hasn't let to any public-facing changes or reveals. Obviously, any publishing deal comes with direct benefits to the game developer financially. Demon Turf may simply now have the funding necessary to be completed as planned. The partnership may open up the possibilities like support for additional platforms, more languages, and even more robust post-launch support. Any announcements will have to wait until later, however.

A new trailer for Demon Turf was also debuted during the ID@Xbox event, which was perhaps the best depiction of the 3D platformer yet. It really humor and high difficulty of the experience, while also doing a great job of showing the impressive scale of the game. It's filled with areas to explore, challenging trials to complete, bosses, NPCs and more.

Demon Turf may not have a release date yet, but that doesn't mean that interested PC gamers can't try the game out for themselves right now. Developer Fabraz is releasing weekly Demon Turf Trials, which are serving-sized challenges. For a game that's still months away from release, it's a very generous gift from a team likely working very hard to finish Demon Turf.

Demon Turf releases in 2021 on PC, Switch, and Xbox.
