7 Chapter 204

Demon Slayer

The finale of Demon Slayer was released into two separate parts, Chapter 204 and 205 respectively. Chapter 204 is the canonical end to the series, allowing the fans to get the much-needed closure from the Muzan fight and ultimate demon showdown. The events of the previous 203 chapters had led the Demon Slayers Corp and Tanjiro into a final fight against evil, leading to either the salvation or destruction of the world.

6 Tanjiro's Recovery & Muzan's Defeat

Chapter 204 picks up three months after the defeat of the villain Muzan, showing Tanjiro who has managed to recover from nearly being consumed as a demon. Despite his happy recovery, many of the wounds attained during the fight are still present on him, namely his left arm and right eye being permanently damaged.

During this period of cooperation, Kiriya Ubuyashiki is the young current leader of the Demon Slayers Corps and is seen holding one final meeting before disbanding the Corps forever. After heartfelt reunions, the chapter finally closes with Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu heading back to the Kamado family home and leading to a closing panel of a modern Japan.

5 Chapter 205

Kyojuro in Demon Slayer

As the final chapter, 205 has a decades-long time skip into the future to show the future of the world after the Demon Slayer Corps disbanded. "Life Shining Across The Years" introduces briefly a new generation of characters for fans to fall in love with. The panels open with Zenitsu's great-grandchild Yoshiteru reading a book called "The Legend of Zenitsu", and discussing the idea of reincarnation with her sister Yoko.

This dialogue leads into the various implied reincarnations of beloved characters throughout the rest of the chapter and has a particularly hopeful thought from Yoshiteru. "I believe that everyone who fought demons and died for a peaceful world was reborn into a happier life."

4 Incarnations

After opening up the reader to the various reincarnations that would make their debut in this chapter, Kanata and Sumihiko Kamado are the first to appear. By their similar appearances to previous characters, it is clear they are Kanao and Tanjiro, respectively. Both are headed to school, although Sumihiko sleeps in while Kanata tries to wake his brother up.

Every panel has one or more of the reincarnated characters throughout the chapter, with other characters being present like Kanroji, Kanae, Himejima, Tokito, Iguro, Hashiras Uzui, and Shinobu.  The students mention stopping by a diner run by Iguro and Kanroji, which validates their wish of being able to be with each other in another life.

3 A New Life

When Sumihiko finally wakes up for school and gets in trouble on his way there along with Tojuro, he jumps the hood of a patrol car with the Shinazugawa siblings inside. Sumihiko's mother gets a phone call about her son's antics, and as the call continues there are images of Tanjiro's sword, earrings, and a picture of everyone who fought and survived the final fight against Muzan. It was this defeat that solidified the bright future into which all the characters reincarnated into.

2 Bright Futures

Inosuke's reincarnation, a botanist by the name of Aoba Hasibira discovered the Blue Spider Lily. This Lily was vitally important through the events of Demon Slayer as the mystical planet that would have granted Muzan an immortal body. Yushiro is also pictured as a successful artist who lives in mystery, painting portraits of Tamayo. Uzui was also paving his own path, winning a gold medal for Japan in the art of gymnastics, hinting at his shinobi lineage. Kanae and Shinobu attend Sekirei Women's Academy, and Himejima found success as a kindergarten teacher.

Demon Slayer was a story that captivated millions and earned a place among the most beloved anime of all time. Throughout the years, fans kept up with the constant twists and turns of the Demon Slayer Corps against their many opponents until the conclusion. After the crushing defeat of Muzan, it was unclear which direction creator Koyoharu Gotouge would go in given the circumstances of the fight and Tanjiro's condition and near transformation. Opting for peace was the well-deserved ending for the characters, being able to reincarnate into the peaceful world they fought and died for is a fitting end for Demon Slayer, one that neatly closes the final chapter with hope and happiness.
