The self-appointed leader of the renowned young demon-hunters-in-training has certainly pulled his weight and bared the brunt of responsibility, albeit in a much more abrasive way than Tanjiro. As chaotic as Inosuke's whole vibe is, the thrill-seeking Beast-Breathing Master has become an invaluable addition to the little band of merry men.

Inosuke's skill set is invaluable as they all work towards becoming the next generation of powerful Hashira while protecting and hopefully curing, their darling Nezuko along the way. Inosuke's significant contribution to the Mugen Train and Entertainment District Arcs is undeniable and has some fans questioning if he should fulfill the leadership role more often in Demon Slayer.

Mugen Train Arc

Whether due to his wild upbringing, or his subconscious instincts as a demon hunter, Inosuke is quick to evaluate the Mugen Train as a monstrosity (and boy, was he on the nose!) He may not have been able to escape Enmu's fantasy-fuelled attacks as efficiently as Tanjiro did, but once the secret to escaping the hallucination is shared with Inosuke, there's no stopping him!

The King of the Mountain remains level-headed enough to ensure Tanjiro doesn't kill himself in reality, and fortunately, is aided by his boar head, whereby the additional eyeballs throw Enmu completely off. Inosuke is also the one to escape the belly of the beast (so to say) and figure out the weak point of the train, right down to the exact position, amongst the coal cart. He subsequently saves countless innocents by leading Tanjiro in the right direction, instead of trying to clear out each carriage one by one.

After the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku's untimely death, devastation crippled those left behind, and it seems that the young, aspiring Hashira has lost the will to continue in his wake. The tear-stricken Tanjiro and Zenitsu admit defeat and fall to the floor, whereas the equally devastated Inosuke still has enough fight left in him to stand tall. Not only does he find the will to get straight back to training, but he motivates the others to join him too (dragging them kicking and screaming when necessary). Inosuke ensures their skills don't grow rusty from despair and that their power potential continues to gain momentum; subsequently providing the perfect team of swordsmen to assist Lord Tengen in his near-impossible mission.

Entertainment District Arc

The beautiful Inosuke had his own set of problems to deal with in the gender-bending segment of the Entertainment District Arc, as the young man who is least in touch with his femininity (further impeded by his gruff voice!) However, out of all three would-be Hashira, Inosuke proves to be the most determined in completing their quest and is not easily distracted by the various social politics within the district (like Tanjiro and Zenitsu are.)

Due to his sharp focus, Inosuke is the first to uncover the whereabouts of the mysterious demon, using his keen senses to determine she is traveling between the walls. True, Zenitsu is the first to face Daki head-on, but that was technically pure coincidence; being in the wrong place at the right time.

The prettiest Boar is still the first to alert the others of the strange mechanics of the elusive demonic threat and even takes a moment to teach Tanjiro more about the Demon Corps ranking systems and their secret wisteria flower engravings, too.

Inosuke also shares more commonalities with the incredible Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui than the others, whose flashy tactics somehow seem to keep the Wild Hashira quite focused. His razor-sharp reflexes allow Inosuke to adequately adapt to Daki's ribbon-based attacks, and his subsequent hacksaw-blade action on her neck is arguably one of the best decapitations in Demon Slayer! Inosuke evades death (once again) by rearranging his internal organs, shifting his heart over to a safer spot, and, combined with his immunity to most poisons, the young lad is left with "just a flesh wound."

Reckless and Relentless

Inosuke-Wisteria-House

Unfortunately, due to Inosuke's erratic, overly-dramatic and chaotic nature, he often comes across as the comic relief of Demon Slayer; the silly sidekick of the main protagonist, Tanjiro. His unconventional childhood has left the Boar quite out of touch with society, with the equally lacking social skills that impede his ability to cohesively form part of a team. While he may not always have the utmost respect for his fellow trainees, he is able to deflate his ego enough to marvel at the admiral qualities of his superior Hashira (although sometimes still refuses to follow their instructions.)

The King of the Mountain is well known for his big mouth, responsible for spewing harsh words and unnecessary taunts at whoever gets in his way. His aggressive reaction to Murata in the Mount Natagumo Arc, negatively impacted his comrades, creating unnecessary animosity between the two groups of swordsmen. He also doesn't take a moment to assess the situation with the Father Spider Demon and attacks with reckless abandon instead, whereas a more cohesive plan could have gotten the job done sooner. However, considering that Inosuke has spent most of his childhood in solitude, with only himself to rely on, Inosuke is adapting quite well to collaborating with others.

Tentative Tanjiro Or Lord Inosuke Hashibira?

As he so often does, Tanjiro walks on the side of caution while the group of Demon Slayers are trying to unravel Daki's identity and location in "Tonight," but thankfully Inosuke's instincts (and impatience) pay off as he refuses to sit on the sidelines a moment longer. He proceeds to pinpoint Daki's whearabouts, boring a hole (tee-hee) into the Earth and uncovering her lair for all to see. Tanjiro may be quite perceptive, but he has the habit of overthinking in stressful situations, wasting precious moments while he tries to gather his thoughts. On the other hand, Inosuke's trust in his own instincts is unwavering, and his lack of hesitation doesn't always lead to disaster.

Inosuke's savage upbringing was unlikely a very compassionate or stable one, however, he does not let his past interfere with the present and rarely lets emotions get in the way of his decision-making. He is also arguably more focused on the battlefield because, while he does always have his friends' backs, he is not restricted by the responsibility of constantly caring for Nezuko's safety, and can therefore put all his efforts into the task at hand. Unlike Tanjiro, the Boar rarely doubts his own capabilities and has complete faith in his skills, determined to never admit defeat, even if just from the sheer strength of awesomeness.
