Tanjiro Kamado, is the very recognizable main protagonist of the Demon Slayer series and is also known to be one of the most powerful demon slayers of the series, slashing down any demon that gets in his way. He is also recognized as the eldest child of the Kamado family. When Tanjiro returned home after working all day in the mountains, he is shocked to find most of his family dead and his sister, Nezuko, turned into a demon.
This drove him to make it his ambition in life to rid the world of these evil demons and find a way to turn Nezuko into a human again. He also sets it upon himself to hunt down the demon who is accountable for the execution of his family. After being accepted into the Demon Slayer Corps he began his journey along with his sister eradicating the world of powerful demons.

Tanjiro Kamado
Tanjiro is known to be a kind person by nature and is emotional when it comes to hard situations, he is a person who loves and cares for his family and comrades and has a strong will to look after them, he is determined in finding the cure for his sister, Nezuko to turn her back into a human. Although he is kind and compassionate by nature he does get annoyed with things that irritate him such as Zenitsu's constant crying and whining and Inosuke's caveman like behavior. Even though Tanjiro may seem to have a weak and emotional personality, there are moments of rage that builds within him, especially when he feels that either his friends or family is danger.
Throughout the series, Tanjiro is seen to be a powerful fighter never backing down from a fight. He has incredible swordsmanship and enhanced superhuman characteristics, his superhuman abilities such as heightened senses and immense intellect gives him a superior edge when battling with opponents. His wits and quick attacks has saved him many times in battles as he is able to outsmart opponents and catch them off guard. He was able to fight head to head with the first demon he ever encountered and managed to slash its neck.
Tanjiro and his sister (Nezuko) have come across many demons in the series and has managed to defeat every single one with their sheer will and determination. During the fight against more skilled and powerful demons, Yahaba and Susamaru, Tanjiro managed to use his brilliant intellect and swordsmanship to cut off Yahaba's head while simultaneously fighting of Susamaru. Another instance is when Tanjiro fought against Kyogai, another powerful demon who was previously affiliated with the Twelve Kizuki (one of the strongest demon clan in existence). He managed to analyze the pattern of the mansion as it moved on its own to defeat Kyogai. Tanjiro later goes on to defeat the Mother and Father spider demons along with Rui, a lower rank five demon.
Further progression in Tanjiro's training showed him getting stronger and stronger. He managed to master total concentration which further improved his abilities and was able to defeat Enmu, a lower rank one demon. The death of Flame Hashira, Kyojuro was also a motivational factor in Tanjiro's journey as his death motivated him to become an even stronger demon slayer. One of Tanjiro's notable features is his flame like scar on his forehead, once activated the demon slayer scar intensifies Tanjiro's speed, strength and reflexes, the first time he activates this mark is during his battle with Upper Rank Six demon, Gyutaro, giving Tanjiro the strength to unleash techniques to defeat him.
Abilities, Techniques, Swordsmanship
Tanjiro is able to execute certain abilities such as transparent world, the ability to foresee an enemy's attack by measuring their muscles and blood flow. This ability allows Tanjiro to speed up his moves. Tanjiro also unlocks new abilities during his battles, an extremely powerful one which he managed to unleashed is called Bright Red Nichirin Sword, this was initially unlocked when his sister set his sword on fire using Blood Demon art, giving him more powerful slashes against his enemy. Amplified scent is an ability that Tanjiro possesses that gives him to the ability to pick up the slightest scent over large distances.
In many instances, Tanjiro is known to have extremely accurate precision and trajectory when aiming weapons at his opponents. He was able to launch his sword over a vast distance before it pierced Akaza's body as he fled the battle after killing Kyojuro. Tanjiro also possesses far more capable intellect compared to his comrades as he is able to strategize his next moves before executing them on his opponent. He also possesses a strong sensory perception as he is able to sense the presence of demons.Tanjiro's superhuman strength gives him the ability to overpower his enemies and dodge attacks at immense speeds, he is able to maneuver and jump easily over large buildings and distances thanks to his amazing strength.
Apart from his abilities Tanjiro also has a powerful bodily move which he uses for defense known as Hard Skull. His skull is known to be as hard as a rock, and he has used his head to headbutt his enemies to get out of close contact combat with causing them to freeze. Compared to his comrade Inosuke, Tanjiro fights with intuition and strategy, he learns his opponents moves and looks for openings and weakness which he can exploit and defeat his opponents with. Tanjiro's speed and reflexes is also an ability which should not be taken lightly, as he is able to move at high speeds while brandishing his sword, adding his flexible reflexes makes him an even more formidable opponent. His stamina also plays a vital role of giving him the upper hand while battling enemies as he is able to zoom across the environment continuously for long periods of time, constantly going in for attacks on his opponents.

The unhindered spirit that Tanjiro possesses to win a fight no matter what has also helped him defeat his enemies, although severely wounded, Tanjiro still finds the strength to push on no matter how many times he is beaten down. He also goes over and beyond if he knows his sister or comrades are danger and somehow finds the will to continue fighting.
From inception, it seemed as though that Tanjiro was born to be a master swordsman, the more demons he faced, the more he continued to grow stronger and stronger. His battles with upper rank demons helped him perfect his technique and proving time and time again that he is worthy of becoming a Hashira. Using his sword he is able to block and strike back at his opponents with lightning speed. Although a very young swordsman, Tanjiro had the capability or surpassing most of his seniors.
Breathing Style And Techniques
Breathing styles are the bread and butter for the Demon Slayer Corps, without breathing styles it would be very difficult for them to defeat demons. It is said that all known breathing styles have been derived from Sun breathing, and all breathing styles copies a form of an element such as water, flame, wind etc. When a Demon Slayer uses their weapon with a breathing style they are able to unleash a powerful attack on their opponents.
Total Concentration Breathing is when the user inhales the maximum amount of oxygen with a breathing pattern, this comes with a range of benefits to the user such as amplified physical and mental abilities. It also amplifies characteristics such as speed and agility as well as clotting wounds and slowing down the circulation of poison.
Water Breathing was the initial breathing style that Tanjiro learnt thanks to Sakonji Urokodaki, a previous Water Hashira and Water Breathing Cultivator. Hinokami Kagura, Dance of the Fire God is a Breathing Style only known and taught by the Kamado Family, later revealed to be the first Breathing Style, Sun Breathing. The Hinokami Kagura has been known to be passed down from father to son in every generation along with the Hanafuda earrings.
A few techniques that Tanjiro also uses are First Form: Water Surface Slash, this allows him to create a concentrated powerful slash. Second Form: Water Wheel, where he leaps into the air and spins circularly releasing an attack. Second Form: Improved, Lateral Water Wheel: unleashes a horizontal spin instead of a vertical one.Third Form: Flowing Dance-A flowing winding attack that slices anything in its path and finally the Fourth Form: Striking Tide: a twisting attack which consist of multiple slashes.
The forms that follow this also include the Fifth Form: Blessed Rain After the Drought also known as the "sword strike of kindness" that causes little or rather no pain on the opponent. Sixth Form: Whirlpool - A whirlpool type of strike that creates a whirlpool of air. Seventh Form: Drop Ripple Thrust - A quick and precise stab on an opponent. Eighth Form: Waterfall Basin - an attack that used to slash an opponent vertically, Ninth Form: Splashing Water Flow - a footwork type of landing on feet technique, Turbulent and Tenth Form: Constant Flux - A flowing attack which takes the form of a water dragon which is a powerful strike.
