Demon Slayer has proved to be a compelling anime, filled with intriguing and unforgettable characters. The various members of the Demon Slayer Corps. are proof that there is always more than meets the eye. Cosplayer AlinaBecker on Reddit shows off her interpretation of Shinobu Kocho, demon slayer, and insect Hashira.
As one of the nine Hashira, Shinobu is included amongst the most deadly and skilled demon slayers in the Demon Slayer Corps. She is known for her outwardly innocent appearance and small stature, but is filled with rage and has remarkable skill with her specially crafted sword. The cosplayer plays into the innocent beauty of Shinobu's appearance, looking docile and calm in front of a water view.
The costume is accurately depicted, with a white and pink butterfly robe or haori, butterfly hair clip, and purple-tinged shoulder-length hair. Shinobu has huge purple eyes that look as if they belong to an insect. The cosplayer uses makeup to create a more life-like interpretation of this. Cosplayer Alina Becker chooses to reflect Shinobu's off-duty appearance, with no sword or threat in sight.
Shinobu, like almost every demon slayer, has a complicated past and personality. Like main character Tanjiro, she became a demon slayer after her family was murdered by a demon. Shinobu is filled constantly with indescribable and can be quite merciless despite putting on a cheerful and forgiving front. With such a small body, Shinobu is physically incapable of decapitating demons (which is required to kill them), so she has crafted her own methods that make her just as talented as the other demon slayers.
Among Shinobu's skills include the ability to outrun even the fastest demon and an unbelievable quickness with her sword. Since she cannot cut off a demon's head, she rather jabs her opponent with her unique sword that has a stinger on the end. The sword injects a deadly amount of poison into the demon's body. Shinobu's body in itself is deadly after she spent a year incorporating poison into her bloodstream. Her butterfly costume proves a law of nature that the most beautiful and colorful are also poisonous and deadly.
Shinobu is a fan-favorite character in Demon Slayer, despite her short-lived appearance in the first season of the show. Her character is included more prominently in the Demon Slayer manga. After the recent film adaptation, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, fans await more details on the confirmed second season of the show.
