Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train is off to a fantastic start in American theaters, continuing its fantastic run in the East that saw it become Japan’s highest-grossing film ever. Considering Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba's huge success, it’s no surprise cosplayers are turning their eyes over Imperial Japan for inspiration.

Throughout its first season, Demon Slayer introduced many powerful female characters, from Tanjiro Kamado’s own sister, Nezuko, to other demons, demon slayers, and, of course, two powerful members among the Hashira ranks. Since one of Demon Slayer's most distinctive features is its art style and those beautiful traditional Japanese effects in battles, it can be really hard to pick out a stand-out character besides Tanjiro.

For cosplayer Faid Eyren, her choice of best Demon Slayer girl has her suiting up as the Insect Hashira, Shinobu Kocho. Do not be fooled by her flowery looks. In the Demon Slayer anime, Shinobu is a formidable fighter even by herself, capable of slaying demons with her deadly butterfly dance and masterful swordplay, contrary to what her affable personality might suggest, which exactly the kind of vibe this model seems to be going for.

Faid Eyren does a great job at recreating Shinobu’s traditional Japanese look, which consists of the traditional Demon Slayer outfit adorned with tints of gold and purple, plus the patterned haori that falls on her kimono. Her hairstyle is absolutely on point and the whole attire is complemented by the location and a matching katana with the flower-shaped hilt, all combining for a simply beautiful look for the model.

In the first season of the series, Shinobu Kocho plays a huge part in Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke’s training, which also leads to Tanjiro finding out so much more about her backstory, the legacy of her sister Kanae, her multilayered personality, and Shinobu’s feelings towards the demons that haunt their world. Shinobu Kocho also shows up in the Demon Slayer movie, though it’s not clear in which direction season two might take the character or what kind of role she'll have in the upcoming Demon Slayer video game.

The entire Demon Slayer cast is a dream for cosplayers out there, but the latest film's performance in the U.S. box office shows the franchise is not constrained to a niche fanbase by any means. With Neon Genesis Evangelion also releasing its swan song feature film, cosplayers can always lean to Asuka and Rei cosplays too.
