Deep Rock Galactic is bursting with humor and charm. While the game was in early access in 2018, many players got their first taste of gameplay when it was fully released in May 2020. This cooperative first-person shooter has been entertaining fans ever since with its fun mechanics.

From completing hidden achievements to finding Easter Eggs, there's a lot hidden in the world of Deep Rock Galactic. With so much to find it's no wonder some players still have missed some of what the game has to offer.

Updated April 18, 2023 by Gemma Johnson: Deep Rock Galactic is an FPS co-op game set in space where players step into the bearded roles of space-mining dwarfs with attitude. Seasonal updates continue in the shooter game set in space like Season 3's Plaguefall, which includes the parasitic Rockpox outbreak. Players get to clean up Contagion Spikes and even face threats from above like meteor impacts and shower events.

Deep Rock Galactic also enables players to uncover lobby secrets, get hidden achievements, and discover Easter Eggs around the social Space Rig and beyond. Deep Rock Galactic's lobby secrets often contain things many players didn't know they could do, like playing mini-games and unlocking secret achievements. However, there are also some handy tips and tricks during missions that some players might be unaware of and a great way to impress fellow space-mining buddies. This article updates the original entries and includes four additional entries.

16 Torment The Pathogens

Deep Rock Galactic often gives players fun new ways to annoy Mission Control. In addition to messing with barrels, since Deep Rock Galactic's Season 3's Plaguefall update, players can tap many of the lava-lamp-like glass canisters dotted about the lobby, especially in the medical wing.

Pressing the interact button lets players tap on the glass to torment the pathogens inside, prompting various annoyed lines of dialogue from Mission Control if players continue. The pathogens inside don’t move, but it would be interesting to see if any ever escaped on board resulting in a mass Alien-style lobby outbreak and potentially hilarious results.

15 Grab Ziplines While Falling

deep rock galactic zip line grab

Many players may be aware from experience that the leading cause of dwarven death in Deep Rock Galactic is fall damage, as space mining is a risky and treacherous activity. However, there are some handy Deep Rock Galactic tips to help prevent fall damage.

If players fall near the Gunner's zipline, hold the X button on an Xbox controller to grab onto the zipline and stop a nasty fall. It's a trick that not all players may have tried, but it's worth trying when falling is a frequent occurrence in this space-mining game.

14 Tap On Big Easter Eggs

During time-limited events such as the Great Egg Hunt, players can interact with many Easter Egg decorations around the Space Rig lobby, like small golden eggs hidden around the rig. Although most eggs are throwable or broken on contact, some large Easter Eggs rock and shake when tapped, suggesting there's a creature living inside.

Keep tapping the egg, and the unknown creature even roars, but unfortunately, the egg never breaks to reveal what's lurking inside. Whether players get to find out the mystery of what might lurk inside remains to be seen, but if it’s anything to do with aliens it’s bound to make a gooey mess.

13 Pet The Bunnies

In addition to tapping Easter Eggs, players can also pet the large pink Easter bunny decorations around the Space Rig during the Great Egg Hunt event, with Easter events in video games commonly seen across different genres. This action leads to the player's dwarf character speaking several affectionate dialogue lines if players keep petting the plushies.

Mission Control doesn't seem to mind players petting the plushies, perhaps as players can't damage the bunny decorations by throwing eggs at them. However, they'll soon chip in with warnings if players start kicking giant carrots and other Easter-themed decorations about the place.

12 Recalibrate Gravity

Gravity Recalibration Button In Deep Rock Galactic

We all float down here... In this case, players can choose whether they would like to float or not, though the ability only lasts for a limited time. Players can find the Gravity Recalibration button by traveling up the lift near the launch bay and up the ladders to the top levels of the Space Rig.

Enterprising miners may have missed the button, but anyone brave enough to ignore the warning not to touch it will find themselves suddenly able to fly through the air. This leads to fun antics until normal gravity levels return.

11 Barrel Shenanigans

Kicking Barrels Into The Launch Tube In Deep Rock Galactic

Feel like kicking around some barrels while awaiting the next mission? Players with the patience to hunt down every barrel in the lobby and kick them into the launch tube receive a series of funny, angry messages from Mission Control. These continue to increase in fury until players kick in the last barrel, and Mission Control sends a final sarcastic quip.

If players press the Recalibrate Gravity button with barrels in the launch tube, a message from Mission Control appears, stating something is interfering with the force field.

10 Error Cube Easter Egg ERR://23¤Y%/

Deep Rock Galactic Error Cube

No, a cat didn't walk across the keyboard while writing this article. Many players have considered this to be an Easter Egg while some even mistake it for a bug in the game. With ERR://019%T#/ also being a structure in the game, it's a promise this weirdly named item is quite intentional.

RELATED: Best Video Games That Take Place In Space

The ERR://23¤Y%/ is known as the Error Cube by players and is an incredibly rare item in the game with only a 1/26 chance of spawning. If players collect 5 of these rare oddities, they can complete the hidden achievement called "What Are These Things?"

9 Throw A Party

A Group Of Space Dwarfs Toasting A Drink In Deep Rock Galactic

There's nothing quite like a good party, and Ghost Ships Games understands that so much they programmed an achievement into the game. Players seeking to get the "Party Time!" secret achievement must toast to good music while in a full team. It's a great way to build team camaraderie before the next mission.

Each player must have a beer in hand for the toast, so be sure everyone has a good drink in a video game where players can get drunk. It's also possible to get the "It's My Party" achievement by running 50 missions as a host from start to finish.

8 Shoot Hoops

Basketball Mini-Game In Deep Rock Galactic

Deep Rock Galactic isn't a basketball game, but it doesn't mean players can't shoot some hoops in a basketball-style mini-game! Players can also throw a stein of beer (either full or empty) into the flaming Barrel Hoop to unlock the hidden achievement, "That's Not How You Play This Game."

Players who are a little more daring (or stupid) can drink until they receive the drunken status and hurl themselves into the Barrel Hoop, with a hilarious Deep Rock Galactic death clip. This action does kill the player, unsurprisingly, but also unlocks the aptly named hidden achievement called the "Darwin Award."

7 MORE Barrel Mischief

Kicking Barrels Inside The Drop Pod In Deep Rock Galactic

What is it with barrels and hidden achievements? Players looking for another hilarious chance to anger Mission Control may enjoy this little secret. Players can kick barrels into the drop pod and watch their fury unleash.

Once players have kicked every last barrel inside, they'll get a final message from Mission Control. It's a tricky task but not impossible by kicking the barrel repeatedly when it's midair. Players can also unlock the 'Barrel Rider' achievement if they ride a barrel for 3 seconds in the rig.

6 Have Happy Feet

A Space Dwarf Dancing In Deep Rock Galactic

Snow White might not be singing, but the dwarves can bust a move! Many players have enjoyed the goofy dance moves dwarves perform when putting music on the jukebox in-game, but few stay for too long. Players with the patience to let their character dance for a full hour will unlock the "Happy Feet" secret achievement.

RELATED: Deep Rock Galactic: The Best Weapons In The Game

This hidden achievement is a nod to the Happy Feet movies that feature dancing penguins. Sadly there's no way to find these arctic birds in the game (yet), but if it's ever added, hopefully, players can dance along.

5 Hunt For Hidden Messages

A Previous Secret Hidden Message In Deep Rock Galactic

Games having hidden messages are nothing new and Deep Rock Galactic has previously joined in on the fun. Players used to be able to find 2 secret messages using the antigravity button to float up to a hidden room and jump through an open green hole in the wall before gravity returns. Both messages said: Nothing here yet I'm afraid. But well done. :D - Rob

It remains to be seen whether Deep Rock Galactic will add any more hidden messages in future updates, but it's worth players keeping a close eye on the rig for new constructions and developments.

4 Be A Disk Jockey

The Jukebox In Deep Rock Galactic

A great video game soundtrack can make a big difference, and Deep Rock Galactic does have many fantastic jams. So why not listen to them all? Players that listen to all 25 songs, from start to finish, can unlock the hidden achievement "Disk Jockey."

RELATED: Great Games Set On A Spaceship

It's important players don't try to skip ahead on any songs — they have to all be played from the very beginning to the very end to get the achievement. Players who dance for too long do get a few stern words from Mission Control, and Deep Rock Galactic has previously added balloons to the dance party.

3 EVEN MORE Barrel Shenanigans

The Cast Of The Original A Team

Someone on the development team really likes barrels. That and 80s television shows. Players that carefully kick barrels can get a single barrel placed on each seat of the Space Pod. If they succeed, they will unlock the hidden achievement "The A-Team."

These four barrels also represent Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith, Lieutenant Templeton "Faceman" Peck, Sergeant Bosco "B.A." Baracus, and Captain H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock from the classic TV show The A-Team. In the Memorial Room, eagle-eyed players may spot the word 'Barrels' listed on the tribute console, plus many other funny and questionable names.

2 Disco-Ball Football Mini-Game

Disco-Ball And Goal Posts In Football Mini-Game In Deep Rock Galactic

Playing football with a disco ball is a fun video game mini-game for players to discover but a secret one. At the base of the drop pod, players can find a tunnel connecting the launch tube and the pit of the basketball hoop mini-game with a small off-shoot secret room where they can find the disco ball and 2 goalposts.

Players can pick up these objects and place them where they like for a quick, spontaneous match of football by kicking the ball into the red or blue force field.

1 Teleport Out The Space Rig

Teleporting Out The Space Rig With The Wormhole Special Drink In Deep Rock Galactic

There are many drinks that players can buy and order for their buddies from the Abyss Bar, each with different perks for the player. Players can purchase and drink the Wormhole Special for the chance of temporarily exiting the space rig.

This quirky, foamy blue swirl of a drink briefly teleports players to randomized locations and returns them to their original spot in a wormhole, looping style. The locations include inside the drop pod and even the rig exterior, where players end up floating in space until they let go to get back inside.

Deep Rock Galactic is available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
