The multiplayer game Deceit is an interesting test of sleuthing and deception skills as two infected players try to eliminate the four innocent players before they escape. Human behavior is a very tricky thing to anticipate and this game can be difficult whether you’re playing as Innocent or Infected.

If you want to improve your skills and begin mastering the game, there are some general things you can do right away to improve your odds of being believed and winning the round. Whether you are Infected or Innocent, here’s what you should do.

10 Get A Microphone

This is probably the most important and useful tip on the entire list. This game requires a lot of communication more so then other multiplayer games. You do have a chat box but it is going to be frustrating for both you and your teammates.

It’s also harder to determine a person’s intent through text and many players will be suspicious of someone who isn’t using their own voice. You can also use audio to your advantage by really demonstrating your innocence through clever voice acting. Do yourself a favor and get a microphone.

9 Keep Tabs On The Antidote

You always want to know where the antidote is and ideally have it on your person. The antidote is an effective tool for survival if you’re an Innocent and removes a potential threat if the antidote is in your possession as an infected.

That being said you put yourself at risk by having someone see you pick up the antidote. You’ll become the target of the Infected and you can reveal yourself to Innocents when you refuse to save one of their teammates with it. In this case just keep track of where it is and use the information to your advantage.

8 Never Reveal Where The Antidote Is

Once you either have it or know who has it never reveal where it is. The Infected will be hunting down anyone who has it or will take down anyone who knows they have it, so stating where it is puts a target on your back.

As an Infected you don’t want anyone knowing you have it because it becomes suspicious when you don’t use it. Just keep the information to yourself and see how things play it when it comes time to using it. If you have it then be very, very careful when you save another Innocent.

7 Announce Your Death

As an Innocent you want people to know when you’re put down because your teammates can run in and give you the antidote. Stating that you died and where you are increases your odds of getting healed.

If you’re an infected, you’ll want to let your teammate know you’re down as they can rush in and save you from the Lethal Injection in the last stage. At the very least they’ll know where you died so they can set up an ambush or wait to divide and conquer when the group gets separated later.

6 Infected Don’t Cure

This is an important tip to know as Innocent or Infected. If someone is in possession of an Antidote and they don’t use it on a dying Innocent, it’s almost a guarantee they’re Infected. The one exception is if they are too far away and can’t get to the Innocent in time.

As an Infected holding an Antidote, you want to make sure you’re some distance away when your teammate takes someone down so you have an excuse for not rushing in. That or pretend to come rushing in to help and get the jump on the other Innocents who may arrive to watch your back.

5 Knives Are Faster

It’s important to move quickly in this game to obtain the items you need or to hunt down the Innocent you’re targeting. When you need to move quickly running with your knife out will make you move faster.

It’s a slight boost to speed, but it’s enough to shave off precious seconds obtaining the Antidote without being seen, taking a sip from a blood bag, or putting some distance between you and hostile players. Just keep in mind it takes a moment to switch to your gun or other item.

4 Track The Blood

This is probably more important for Innocents but is something to keep in mind as an Infected. When you start coming across multiple empty blood bags this is a strong indicator that the Infected are locked and loaded for when the lights go out and you need to play very cautiously.

Alternatively, if most of the blood bags haven’t been touched then the Infected aren’t ready for the lights to go out and rushing will give you a good chance of surviving the encounter as they’ll be scrambling to get blood.

3 Don’t Cry Wolf Too Much

If you think someone is an Infected or you want to make the others think someone is Infected, you better have a strong case and be absolutely sure it’s what you want to do. If you’re repeatedly stating others are Infected then the group will begin to think you are.

If they do believe you and vote out a person who turns out to be Innocent it will draw even more attention to yourself. At the very least you make a potential enemy of the one you accuse. You better be sure you have rock solid evidence or you’re prepared for things to go sideways when you accuse someone.

2 Stay In Groups

This is true for both sides and is key to winning the round. As Innocents your job is to identify who’s the Infected and escape the facility in one piece, sticking with the group will provide protection in numbers and dissuade the Infected from trying anything and revealing themselves.

As Infected coordinating attacks with your teammate is going to get you a lot further than playing lone wolf. It’s also important to stick with the Innocents at times as being constantly on your own without ever getting attacked looks suspicious. It’s also important for finding out who has the Antidote.

1 It’s Just A Game

This game involves a lot of deception and finger pointing between human players. Unfortunately, some players forget it’s just a game and will take it personally if they frequently die due to false accusations or aren’t believed when they identify someone as Infected.

If you find yourself getting frustrated take a break, you’re not doing yourself or your team any favors by getting personal about something that shouldn’t be taken too seriously. This multiplayer game isn’t for everyone and you’re going to come across a lot of other players who haven’t figured that out yet so be patient and remember to have fun.
