DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue Trailer Will Make You Chuckle

Did you ever wish that Lord of the Rings was instead told as Lord of the Thongs? Well, if you own a PlayStation 3 or an Xbox 360, and don’t own Cinemax, then you are in luck. Coming September 21st for Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network is the sequel to the gut busting romp DeathSpank, titled DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue.

It looks like Thongs of Virtue is releasing hot on the heels of DeathSpank in order to keep the storyline fresh in the mind of gamers. From the brilliant mind of Ron Gilbert, DeathSpank is one of the funniest games you will play this year packing everything from juvenile potty humor to adult potty humor into one downloadable game. With Thongs of Virtue, Hothead Studios looks to be giving us more of the same, which, in this case, is not a bad thing.

Here's the trailer:

DeathSpank is one of the many games that prove that the new creative outlet for developers to take bold risks in game creation is in the field of downloadable games. As a full retail game, DeathSpank would have had a difficult time finding its niche and therefore would have been considered a failure. Luckily, the game has found its audience on the PSN and XBLA.

DeathSpank did have a few issues with the combat mechanic and the way in which health was recovered, but overall it was a standard questing hack-n-slash elevated by slapstick humor.

If you haven’t already checked out the first game, you might be lost jumping right into the sequel. And since the game is so hilarious it will not feel like a chore to get through. With somewhere between 5-7 hours of gameplay, it is well worth the price tag and once you enter the world of DeathSpank, the dispenser of justice, you wont want to go back.

What do you think of this new trailer, Ranters? If you have played DeathSpank, are you interested in playing Thongs of Virtue? Tell us why or why not in the comments below.

DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue provides a hero for the downtrodden when it is released September 21st for the XBLA and PSN.
