Arkane Studios showed a new story trailer for Deathloop at the recent PlayStation Showcase event. While the game has been featured at various Sony events, this seems like the final trailer before Deathloop’s release in just a few days.

It tells the story of a time loop, where players take on the role of an assassin and must take out all 8 of their targets before the day resets. Deathloop will feature two playable characters, as it is possible to interfere with another player’s game world and stop them from carrying out their mission as Julianna. This new story trailer gives a glimpse of what fans can expect from the narrative of the game.

The video is being narrated by Colt, the protagonist of Deathloop. It shows him repeatedly waking up at a beach after failing to complete his mission. He mentions that has no idea how the time loop works or why he is stuck in one, but he is determined to find answers. Arkane has already shown a lot of gameplay from Deathloop, and this new trailer gives a taste of some of the unique methods players can use to take out their enemies. In the trailer, Colt utilizes the level design in clever ways, and there seems to be a wide variety of guns and powers available to him.

The trailer teases a lot of mysteries and the story seems incredibly intriguing. While there have been plenty of games that feature time loop stories, such as Outer Wilds and the recently released 12 Minutes, fans can hope that Deathloop provides satisfying answers to all of the mysteries it sets up.

Despite the fact that Arkane Studios is now owned by Microsoft, Deathloop will remain exclusive to PS5 and PC for a limited time. Deathloop will not release on other platforms until September 2022, but fans can expect it to be a part of Xbox Game Pass just like all other games published by Microsoft. This version may also include any DLC that releases after the initial launch.

This also doesn’t mean that the PS5 version will not be complete or fully realized in any way. It seems like Arkane is taking full advantage of the hardware, as it was earlier confirmed that Deathloop will make use of the unique Dualsense features, such haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Given that Sony lacks a major first party release for the remainder of the year, it gives Deathloop a shot at catching the eye of a bigger audience.

Deathloop launches on September 14 for PC and PS5.
