With Horizon Forbidden West delayed to 2022, Deathloop stands as arguably the highest-profile PlayStation 5 console exclusive game releasing in the second half of 2021. Developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda, Deathloop has a decent amount of hype behind it, especially since it's one of the few next-gen only games on the horizon. Now a new Deathloop trailer has been released that focuses on exactly how the game is taking advantage of the PlayStation 5's unique next-generation features.

Deathloop is aiming for "stunning visuals" using the PS5's added horsepower, and it will also be making use of the console's unique DualSense controller. The DualSense controller's adaptive triggers will be used to make sure every Deathloop gun "feels unique," with the resistance players feel in the triggers adapting for each weapon. There are even some cases where Deathloop guns will get jammed, and players will feel that in the adaptive triggers as well.

Deathloop on PS5 will also utilize the DualSense controller's haptic feedback. Haptic feedback in the game will reflect player movement, with players seemingly able to feel main character Colt's footsteps. If Colt is running, the haptic feedback will be more intense, but if Colt is slowly sneaking up on an enemy, it slows down. Colt's other movements will also be reflected in haptic feedback, like when he slides across the floor.

Along with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, Deathloop players can also expect the game to use the DualSense controller's speaker. One example of this is given in the trailer, as players will hear radio chatter coming from their controller. All together, the hope is that these features will help make Deathloop a much more immersive experience than it would be otherwise, and it will be interesting to see if the developers nail it or not come the game's September 14 release date.

What's interesting about Deathloop's extensive PS5 DualSense support is that the game will one day inevitably make its way to Xbox Series X as well. After all, Microsoft owns Arkane Studios and Deathloop, and the only reason it's coming to PS5 is due to a pre-existing agreement between Bethesda and Sony. Once Deathloop's PS5 timed-exclusivity wraps up, the game will make its way to Xbox Game Pass, but it will be doing so presumably without the same features it enjoys on PS5, as there is no DualSense-equivalent for the Series X.

However, Microsoft has teased the possibility of a DualSense-like Xbox controller being made one day, so if that's out in time, maybe Deathloop's Xbox version will be able to retain these features. Time will tell, but for now, those on PS5 can look forward to Deathloop and its DualSense support.

Deathloop launches September 14 for PC and PS5.
