Players are currently going through Arkane Studios' most recent release, Deathloop, currently available on PC and PS5. True to the developer's style, a lot is going on in the game world players do not immediately understand. The game usually explains all these, but many players might waste a lot of time figuring out what certain elements are for, not realizing that the game will reveal everything in due time.

The glowing objects, in particular, grab people's attention. There is seemingly nothing to do with them, though. Read the guide below for the lowdown on what these objects are for in Deathloop and how to use them.

What To Do With The Glowing Objects

The short answer is there is nothing to do with these during the opening hours of the adventure. Ultimately, ignore them, and once one is far enough into the campaign, the game reveals what the objects are for.

After killing the first Visionary, a story event takes place, giving Colt the ability to interact with the shiny objects. These items are revealed to hold Residuum; an important currency Colt uses to infuse objects. This is also the same point where players can start playing as Julianna and invading other games.

What Is Infusion?

Infusion is the process Colt does to weapons and abilities to keep them through the loops. Normally, Colt loses every piece of gear and weaponry he collected the previous day.

Once something is infused, it stays with him permanently and can be equipped in a loadout at any time before heading into a level. With this in mind, infusing valuable weapons, slabs, and trinkets should be a player's top priority.

Best Ways To Get Residuum

There are three main ways to get Residuum

  • Absorbing it from glowing objects in the world
  • Sacrifice unneeded weapons and trinkets
  • Killing Visionaries

Players find the objects throughout the world regularly, but they do not give that much residuum. Sacrificing weapons gives a little more and is a recommended tactic because everything that isn't infused is lost once the next loop starts. Killing a Visionary is a more involved process, but it easily nets the most Residuum of the three.

How To Recover Lost Residuum

Residuum does not carry over between loops, so be sure to spend all of it before the day restarts. Additionally, if the player dies and respawns with the Reprise slab, all Residuum is lost. In this case, the Residuum can be recovered by heading to the place where Colt died and absorbing it again. Die the third time, though, and Colt is back at the beach, having lost all Residuum with no way to get it back.

Deathloop is out now for PS5 and PC.
